During our summer trip in 2019 to Italy, my family (husband, 2 small children 5&7, and 68 yr old mother) booked a private tour with Viaggi D’Ambra. It was the best decision, as Sienna is an amazing city with all the unique districts, but without Azzura as our guide we could have never covered so much ground and seen so much. The town is mostly pedestrian only, so normally you have to park outside the city and walk in, but with Azzura she had a special permit and drove us straight into the city. Her stories were educational and enjoyable for all of us and really gave us the true understanding of a fascinating city. She emphasized the beauty of the Duomo and provided history and highlights of Piazza del Campo, where we indulged in gelato and later pastries as we wondered throughout the town. During the day we always felt comfortable and safe all the while keeping our varied age group entertained. Christian and Azzura, from the time of booking, to pre-arrival logistics, to meetings us promptly in a safe and clean vehicle at our villa door, handled all the details while making us feel like we be toured by our own family members. I would only go on a Private Tour to get the true experience of the towns in Italy you visit and our next visit we will be calling Viaggi D’Ambra.

We visited Tuscany last July (2019) and booked a walking tour of the beautiful city of Siena with Viaggi D’Ambra. I had been to Siena several times before but never with children (ages 11 and 13). I knew a visit to Siena was a must, a quintessential Italian city perched on a hill with small winding streets, rich culture, quaint shops and trattorias and beautiful views . I was in search of a tour that would be private, could be catered to our needs and would help the children learn and appreciate the art, history, food, culture and people. Luckily our hotel directed us to Christian and Azzura with Viaggi’D’Ambra. They did all that and more! They created and set us up with many wonderful tours including a wonderful walking tour of Siena that interested us all and taught us the rich history and culture of Siena. Some of which was new to me, even having visited many times before. Our guide was on time, engaging, and passionate. We visited quaint streets and of course “must see” (the Duomo, Piazza del Campo) locations. Our guide directed us to a wonderful restaurant for lunch and we had some free time to explore on our own. We ALL learned so much! Christian and Azzurra were prompt, informative, kind, attentive to detail and felt like we were visiting our Italian relatives. We strongly recommend their company and will definitely use them again when we return to Italy!

I highly recommend Viaggi d’Ambra if you are looking for an authentic and informative guided walking tour of Siena. My husband and I were fortunate to have first discovered this amazing tour company on Trip Advisor in 2012 while searching for a Chianti Wine Tour. Their commitment to excellence is unparalleled and since then, we have taken a variety of their tour offerings on each of our many return holidays to Italy. Both the owners Christian & Azzurra are excellent guides who helped us to fall in love with Italy and I cannot imagine exploring Siena with anyone else. They bring the highlights of Siena to life with their thoughtful, well organized itinerary which is delivered knowledgeably and passionately. At a comfortable, relaxed walking pace the genuine love felt for the history and beauty of Siena is shared. Always mindful of the guests interests and energy levels their tours are kept fun & interesting, and you never feel rushed. They expertly guide in perfect English and any question on a broad range of topics is happily answered. The stop to enjoy a tasting of a few traditional sweets like cantuccini and panforte brings an added personal touch and provides a wonderful opportunity to talk about the local food culture. As well, recommendations for restaurants, shops, and points of interest in the area are proudly shared. There is much to discover in Siena so please do not miss the opportunity to experience the wonder of it all with the best possible tour company. Book with confidence, your tour with Viaggi d’ Ambra… it will be a highlight of your holiday!!!!
