The merging of groups allows us to offer not only tours to well-known destinations such as Titlis, but also to smaller but not less interesting places with lower guest numbers such as the destination of your choice. As officially stated in our program, our «Engelberg – Alpine Village» tour is guided from Zurich via Lucerne to Engelberg and back to Zurich. In between, the guests discover the village on their own with the help of a comprehensive information booklet with recommendations of sights and activities. We are sorry to hear that our guide did not take enough time to provide sufficient information for you to enjoy your three-hour stay to the fullest. Engelberg is a typical Swiss alpine village with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. While it is not to be compared with a city, there are various options available: one can visit the baroque-style Benedictine monastery with its own cheese factory or hike one of the many trails in the beautiful surroundings. The tour is clearly advertised as a partly guided tour and is cherished by many as it allows you to use free time at your own disposal to explore the village of Engelberg or go for a short hike in the alpine surroundings. All guests on our partly guided tours receive detailed written information upon arrival with suggestions on how to use their free time. Engelberg is a popular touristic town in Switzerland and is on the bucket list of many people travelling to Switzerland. We are very sorry to read that the tour to Engelberg did not meet your expectations and you therefore haven't been able to fully enjoy the service provided on this tour. It is correct that the tour to Engelberg is not operated in a separate coach as we would not be able to fill a coach with guests who want to visit Engelberg only. Engelberg is the village located at the foot of Mt. Titlis and the main highlight of this region is the glacier Mt. Titlis. For ecological reasons, we combine these destinations in the same coach and although most guests join us for Mt. Titlis, we regularly welcome guests who prefer to spend time in Engelberg only. The tour to Engelberg is designed for guests who like to experience an alpine village or e.g. are afraid of taking the cable car. Sometimes these parties even travel together and appreciate the fact of being in the same coach. It is promoted as a partly guided tour and while our tour guide proceeds to Mt. Titlis, our Engelberg guests enjoy 3 hours free time in the village offering the possibility to see the baroque-style monastery hosting the only cheese show dairy in a monastery in Switzerland. We take your feedback regarding the things to do in Engelberg into consideration and have started to elaborate a more detailed information booklet which should give our guests some ideas of how to spend their afternoon in Engelberg. We are aware that Engelberg is a relaxed and quiet small village and to some extend understand that some guests expect more action. We also admit that the scenery and facilities may have been more attractive in case of sunny weather but unfortunately, the weather conditions are beyond our control. Having checked our tour records on that day, it states that we had 5 guests booked for Engelberg and 33 passengers for Mt. Titlis. On the way to Engelberg/Mt. Titlis we pass the village of Stans and as we also had 4 guests on our coach who wanted to visit that mountain, we had a brief stop there for drop-off but we are speaking of a period of 10 – 15 minutes which had no impact on the schedule of our tour. The tour guide of course gives explanations of this tour but since it is spotted with general information about our country and the Swiss Alps we feel it is of interest to all guests. It is our aim to offer a well-balanced schedule to our guests taking all expectations and needs into considerations but when travelling in a group, there is also some kind of restrictions with regards to flexibility. We know that there is a lot to see and explore in Lucerne but the main focus on this tour is Engelberg. Offering you a partial refund to charge you for the tour to Lucerne only, we considered a fair compensation.
