We were a family of 6 adults on a driving trip around Portugal. Our last 2 evenings and days were spent in Lisbon. We arranged a private tour of Lisbon with Viator thru Gold Compass. This was a truly great way to get around Lisbon and see the sights! Our driver was fantastic, picked us up at our hotel and went out of his way to making our tour memorable. We started at Christ the Redeemer statue which we had only seen from a distance, before the crowds started. He dropped us off at each sight and either parked or came back for us so we never had to do a lot of extra walking. He sharing information about each and every place. When there are 6 people ( $50 cdn each) a private tour is very reasonable! I would strongly recommend Gold Compass and Viator to all fellow travelers!

We were 4 first timers to Lisbon with only 1.5 days to explore before boarding our cruise ship. We arranged a tour on the afternoon of our arrival to see Lisbon's Traditions. Besides seeing and learning and taking in the experiences of this walking tour, it kept us moving after arrival on our overnight flight from the US. Our guide met us at our hotel and off we went! It was everything and more than I knew to expect. We covered everything I had seen in a Rick Steves video and read in his books on the sights to see. We could expore a bit on our own the following day since we learned the lay of the land. Very simple. We also arranged another 4 hour tour the next day in a van to cover areas not as close to Avenade du Liberdade such as Castelo de São Jorge. The tours gave us the taste of Lisbon we were hoping for and now we know we will return to Lisbon and Portugal because it was fabulous!! PS: we also had Tours for You arrange our ride from the airport to our hotel. Service was excellant. No complaints!

Today we enjoyed a half day private tour of Lisbon with our knowledgeable and friendly (English speaking) guide Matilda. It is fantastic how in 4 short hours you can discover further insight into the culture, heart and food of this beautiful city. We are so happy that we booked this tour as the more we walked we realised how much we would have missed. This overall tour included food tastings and to top it off at the end an informative talk in a wine shop where we were comfortably seated and treated to Portuegese wine regions/descriptions, wine and simple food pairings. Highly recommended.
