Merritt gave a PHENOMENAL tour and was super patient with our young ones. She even entertained them a bit at lunch 😂. The food was incredible - more than enough for all of us. On top of that, a bit of history and local tips sprinkled in to make for a very memorable day.

Phenomenal. Only one word truly describes the experience. While the food and drink stops, historic stories as we walked through the city, and well paced atmosphere define the tour, our tour guide, Alicia, truly made it a memorable event. This was our first time in Lisbon, and while we've been scouring the depths of Google and travel blogs to find the best places to eat, Alicia guided us with the perspective of someone who's been living in Lisbon for a couple of years and devotes herself to the city. The memories of the food will always cause my mouth to water in the future, but that's nothing compared to the enjoyment and immersion into the culture that our guide ensured we received.

Really great tour that got us trying some food and spots I'm sure we would have missed during our short visit to Lisbon. Our guide, Merritt, was great and enthusiastic and gave us lots of extra information about the places we were visiting.

Spent a wonderful 3.5 hours with Merritt learning about food and culture of Portugal. Small group, knowledgeable tour guide and fun people. You must do this if you visit Lisbon. Highly recommend!

First and foremost, our guide Merritt was wonderful. Kinda and funny, she filled our morning with fun facts about both the history of Lisbon food and history. The food was excellent, fresh and so tasty. A great variety of pastries, meat and beverages. The morning flew by and was well worth the $$.

Merrit was amazing and she gets 5 stars. She was very knowledgeable and just a fun person to be around.
My issue is with the food and the portions. For $80 plus dollars I feel like I shouldn't have walked away hungry. Maybe more of the samples could actually be full sized instead of a quarter or a half of something, OR they could have offered a drink with the pork sandwich. The lunch was also VERY small portions.

We do want to clarify that our tour is designed to offer a variety of flavors and dishes from local vendors, rather than focusing on large portion sizes.
The itinerary states that the tour includes "9 tastes and 3 drinks at 7 small businesses in Lisbon", which we believe is a generous amount of food and drink to provide for a food tour experience.
However, we understand that it may not have been communicated clearly enough, and we apologize for any confusion.
Regarding the pork sandwich, we understand your disappointment that a drink was not included. We regret any confusion that may have arisen and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

We had a very nice food tour with Goncalo. It was a good variety of local foods and history. The food was tasty and we even went back to purchase some items to take back to the States. Our favorites were the pork sandwich and dessert.

Ruth was lovely. She took us to lovely small places where we had a chance to try nice food and wine. And fantastic custard tarts. If you want to see Time Out market though don’t do the tour on Mondays when it is closed. There is loads of food so Devi item don’t have breakfast. It starts from a coffee anyway. Great day

Hello,
I wonder if it's possible to stay outside for eating experiences on this tour, as my father is immunocompromised and would love to avoid indoor dining.

I think so -but I would definitely let the company/guide know in advance! We ate indoors for the first stop at Confeitaria Nacional (espresso/donuts) and O Trevo (bifanas) but they definitely have tables outside of both. There is a stop at the indoor Time Out market as well - otherwise everything was outdoors.
Curious just how much walking is involved here. I have a participant that can walk, but not always well or for extended periods of time. I’m wondering how much walking is required between each stop (5 minutes? 15 minutes?) and are many going uphill. I did see one from the description.

There was quite a bit of walking and some fairly steep uphill inclines and steps up and down. It was a great tour but if you’re concerned about walking, steps, and incline’s, you might want to choose something else
