Excellent visit to the Valley of the Nuns.
The driver was knowledgeable and interesting, we saw some stunning views, it was definitely worthwhile.
The booking and pickup were straightforward.

Great way to see the valley

Really good afternoon out. Weather was drizzly but we still managed to see good views of the valley from the viewpoint and once we descended into the village the weather improved and we had plenty of time to explore. The a short stop off at the fishing village at the coast.
Marco was very punctual and we felt very safe driving along some steep windy roads.
Good value for money and can only recommend.

Brilliant tour and great value

Fantastic tour. Bruno our guide was lovely…funny and knowledgeable, speaks 5 languages fluently. We were on a cruise ship that charged 5 times as much so I booked this for 25€ on TripAdvisor. Got collected from Next Hotel right by the port. Visited Câmara de Lobos fishing village, the mountains and the Valley of the Nuns. Took 3 1/2 hours total. Best bit was the view and listening to the wild canaries singing in the mountains.

Pleasant and informative
On previous visits, we had done trips with Tui but decided to try a local company this time, and we were not disappointed. There were only seven people on the minibus and Roberto, our driver/guide, gave an interesting commentary in Portuguese and in English as we drove along. It was a bit of a walk up to the viewpoint over The Valley of the Nuns but worth it for a view, it was very busy in The Valley itself. We ended up spending some time in Cámara dos Lobos, which was pleasant. An enjoyable and informative half day.

A little disappointed

We were looking forward to another informative tour of Madiera after completing the 2-day tour prior. This tour mainly consisted of a short stop at the top of the mountains looking down into the small village (valley of the nuns) and followed by a stop in the small village. There was a church and a cafe for us to look around. During the tour little history or detail was provided on how the village was started and background of those who remain. There was also no direction of where to go once we arrived in the village or at the fisherman's village.

Bar some of the nice views, this trip felt a bit of a tourist trap with a very loose backstory consisting of a group of nuns once occupied the area for a short period of time and left very little history showing why they settled there, how they lived or why they left.

The driver was friendly throughout the tour although I would recommend the other tours of maderia and only book this if you have nothing to for half a day or really want to see a small village where nuns may have lived for a bit, one upon a time.

Valley of the Nuns Tour

Highly recommend this tour as both West and East tours of Madeira do not include this in their itinerary. Breath taking views, you won’t regret it.

A very informative trip.

This tour is a great experience. We had very cloudy, foggy weather so we were not able to see anything from the Eira do Serrado viewpoint. However it was still a great experience to visit Curral das Freiras and Camara de Lobos.

The tour operator was very knowledgeable on Madeira and we learned a lot during this tour.

A good way to start a holiday in Madeira

A fantastic tour, quite quick with only a little walking but a good way to start a holiday in Madeira. Roberto our guide was very knowledgeable and as we made our way to the valley pointed out things of interest and gave a good overview of the history of the island. I recommend walking the coast when the tour finishes in Camara de Lobos if your hotel isn’t too far.
