I enjoyed the tour of the North Coast of Madeira. The island is volcanic and there are many tunnels through the mountains for the cars to drive through. We visited Engenhos do Norte, a steam-powered sugar cane distillery. There is a lot of sugar cane that grows on the island, which the distillery turns into rum. I enjoyed the various viewpoints. Our last stop was Santa Cruz. The São Salvador Church had a chapel with Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. This was a lovely way to see the North Coast.

Excursion authentique, pas touristique, découverte de beaux coins de montagne sous la brume, c'était magnifique, et le guide Hugo nous partage son amour de l'ile👍

This is our second time using happy tours and we have been very pleased with the company. Today our tour guide was Luis (the son) who gave us an excellent tour. He was very knowledgeable, his English was excellent and he showed a true love for his country. The North of the island is truly beautiful and we went to many of the small towns and villages along the coast. Luis entertained us all day with stories and legends of the island and the stops were well planned. I would really recommend this tour if you want to see the beauty of the island away from the main tourist areas.

We booked this tour a little last minute, wanted something to do on a particular day and our options/ companies by that time were a little limited and we were happy to go with whatever we could find.
Pick up etc was all fine, small minibus to seat around 17 of us, think there were a couple of spare seats on the day we went. We hadn't realised before we booked that the lava tubes have been closed now for 2 years due to Covid (we'd obviously picked up an old leaflet, apparently the company were waiting on new ones) so this stop on the tour (which originally took up 90 mins or so from memory) no longer happens.
We thoroughly enjoyed getting out and about to see other areas of the island, the scenery driving round is absolutely stunning. There were a number of stops at small villages and viewpoints, generally involving a quick 'on and off' the bus for a bit of a wander and to take photos. There was a longer stop for lunch before we started to make our way back to the Funchal area.
The commentary on the bus, we both felt, was fairly minimal, covered the basics. It felt a little like the driver was just going through the motions. Due to the weather, the last stop was understandably kept fairly short (it was pouring down), and we were back home at 3:30. Not that the lava tubes were a must see for us, it just felt like that was a fairly big point of the tour which was then followed by a drive around the coast with a few stops along the way. It doesn't feel as though the tour has been rejigged at all in light of the closure and is just missing a bit of something.....
So, in short, we did enjoy our day out, breath taking scenery around every bend. Were we wowed by the tour itself? Probably not, but it was generally okay.

Ugo was a fantastic guide. So knowledgeable about Madeira and so interesting to listen to, as well as being a great driver.
This tour is excellent value with the right amount of stops and different locations to other operators I've done previously, ie Santa Cruz.
I took the opportunity to see the surrounding area at lunch time, with no pressure to have lunch at suggested restaurant and again some great pictures taken whilst others did the rum factory tasting and short tour.
2 great couples so a small group, all in all a wonderful way to spend my last day in Madeira for a few months.
This tour is excellent value with the right amount of stops and different locations to other operators I've done previously, ie Santa Cruz.

Ar condicionado na carrinha desligado.O condutor apenas ligou a ventilação ,mesmo depois de lhe ser pedido para ligar o ar condicionado (carrinha sem janelas para ventilar com 17 pessoas)
Andarmos para trás e para a frente para dar boleia a amigo do condutor
Almoço num restaurante da escolha do condutor,fora da rota da excursão,no meio do nada e ainda por cima com o dono e único funcionário do restaurante super desagradável
Apresentei reclamação a um funcionário da agência que teve uma postura super incorreta,proferindo frases como ''O que quer que lhe faça?É normal querer ajudar as pessoas da terra.É curioso que só a senhora é que reclamou''
Sei que o outro casal de portugueses também reclamou e sinto uma vergonha por ser desta forma que se promova o turismo português.

Caríssima senhora, as nossas carrinhas têm todas ar-condicionado e a funcionar em perfeitas condições. Os nossos motoristas têm o cuidado de não colocar o ar-condicionado demasiado frio e a temperatura o mais temperada possível.
Em relação à dita "boleia de um amigo" foi um serviço de cortesia para ajudar uma pessoa numa curta distância o que demonstra uma atitude de bom coração do nosso motorista e uma boa acção para ajudar uma pessoa que necessitava de ajuda.
Em relação à paragem para o almoço, tal qual lhe foi transmitido a excursão Sudoeste não tem um ponto fixo para o almoço devido à escassez de restaurantes nessa zona e por consequência fica ao critério dos nossos motoristas de turismo a escolha do restaurante onde farão a paragem para o almoço. Nós sugerimos o restaurante e as pessoas são livres de escolherem ou não algo para comer, no entanto, iremos passar a sua mensagem ao dono do restaurante para que possa melhorar o seu serviço ao cliente.
Lamentamos que o serviço do restaurante não tenha sido do seu agrado, contudo, é algo que não conseguimos controlar.
