Funchal airport cannot cope with the increasing number of tourist's.
It's best to avoid travel on Mondays as this is when there is a surge in passengers from the UK. On the return journey we were held up in a queue at Passport Control for 1 hr 15 mins. There were in excess of 600 people queueing . We cleared security in about 20 minutes. There were no seats available in the departure lounge , so in total were standing for 2 hours.
Being elderly we became very tired and anxious we would miss our flight. There was no explanation as to what was happening and it was chaotic. We will not be going to Madeira again it was far to stressful for us.

Madeira er en fantastisk ferieøy. Man kan ta fjellturer, lavada-turer, botanisk hage, bussturer for å utforske øya og mye mer. Anbefales på det sterkeste.
