We had a wonderful experience and Sergio was very accommodating despite our struggle to arrive on time! He was well versed on the region, history and wine industry of Portugal. What a memorable day!

What a wonderful way to explore the beautiful Douro Valley! We loved our small group of 6 with Filipe. He was very knowledgeable and also made the whole day fun.
We had two excellent wine tastings at very unique wineries, a relaxing hour on the Douro river and a superb lunch…with wines of course!
Pick and drop off was very convenient and our car was very comfortable.

This excursion with Cooltours Oporto was perfect trip for my siblings and me and extra special as it was harvest season! The Douro Valley is a must see and the visit to Quinta Do Jalloto was splendid and Marta was wonderful, showing our small group their wine making process as well as their delicious honey. The river trip was relaxing and a nice change from rumbling down the cobbled paths, though that was really quite fun.
The next stop at Quinta de Santa Eufemia was wonderful. The owners were so warm and gracious and the lunch served was delicious. The wines we sampled here broke any remain preconceived notions I had left about port wines.
Again, I can’t say enough about the warmth and welcome at both wineries. The absolute jewel of this trip, however, was our guide Philip. (I’m sure i misspelled his name.) He was very engaged and informative. He toured us through Quinta de Santa Eufemia like he was a member of their family. From pointing out the statue of Ferdinand Magellan in his hometown of Sabrosa to answering our silly tourist questions, Philip was wonderful and patient.

Our Douro Valley experience was exceptional thanks largely to our guide, Phillip. He was very informative, funny and helpful. The whole day from start to finish was top notch. If you take this tour with Cool Tours O Porto be sure to ask for Phillip as your guide.

Pick up at our hotel was on time. The tour was led by Maria. She was a plethora of knowledge as to history, culture, and wine. We toured 2 wineries in the Duro Valley, took a river cruise, and had a wonderful lunch. Perfect day! I highly recommend!!!

An excellent trip almost ruined by the lack of communication from the tour company, Cooltours, who despite being advised by the guide failed to inform us of the 25min late arrival at pick up

Andreia was a fantastic guide! She was personable, funny, informative, accommodating, and a great driver. I enjoyed her tour of Quinta Santa Eufemia, having lunch at Restaurante Tipico, and one more winery. She stopped at various places to let us take photos, including Regua and Sabrosa (where explorer Magellan lived). She also kept reminding us to drink water and made sure we were comfortable on the windy roads. I also loved that she was a local from Gaia, around the area, and could share many personal stories and experiences about wine in the Douro area.
Regarding the tour in general, the 7-seater van was clean, spacious and comfortable, with large windows on either side, and adequate A/C. The river cruise was relaxing, though I was hoping for some commentary from the captain instead of just the boat ride. It didn’t hurt that the weather was perfect, sunny but breezy.
An excellent value tour, and would definitely recommend to others!

Joao our guide was the consummate professional. He was charming, extremely well-informed on all aspects of history, agriculture, wine, making process, and the whole area. He interspersed all his talks with incredible facts and information. The timing was impeccable, so that we missed the very large groups of tourists. The tour featuring the Douro river, its history, and the incredible natural beauty will be an outstanding memory for us. This area is truly magnificent! Thank you, Joao & all the people along the way for making such a perfect tour.

I have a 8 month old with me. Am I allowed to take her? Is there an infant seat for her in the vehicle?

I don't think this trip would be appropriate for an 8 month old. It's a lot of driving ( 1 1/2 hr to the Douro Valley from porto). Then a lot of sitting through wine tasting, then a long drive back. Not suitable for children.

The weather is likely to be very different in The Valley from that in Oporto so I think the tour would be on if rainy at the start

They are perfectly lovely at Cool Tours so I would think the answer would be "Absolutely". Our van had 5 of us as a family and another couple and it was the perfect size.

Hi - we are going to be in Porto the week of 6.20 for a company gathering. We would like to plan an excursion like yours but only have limited time and days to do so. Do you have any flexibility in your tour timing as well as the option to be picked up at the airport on 6/20?

Hi,
You would need to message the tour company directly, but if there is enough of you, they would possibly offer a private tour.
When we went there were about 10 people, all picked up from around 2 or 3 pick up points in the centre (all within a 5 minute walk from your hotels), as some parts are pedestrianised, so no vehicle access.
But I would say, well worth the money, a great day out.
Picked up around 09:45, dropped off at approx. 17:30

They will often pick a place close to where your hotel is which is convenient to access. There is no charge for pick up
Is the river cruise included in the price or since it is stated as an optional cruise, there would be an extra charge if chosen please?

They post two separate prices, one including the cruise and one not including it. Be advised that it is the same tour - we opted out of the cruise and it turned out we had to wait for those who opted in to go on it. I thought Cooltours could've made that clearer. We walked into the town of Pinhão - 5-10 minutes - and just had a cup of coffee.
