I have rated the trip for 4 stars because of the driver. The trip in one way took more than 3 hours and the driver were shouting on the phone during the whole back trip. Please tell them that the passangers want to enjoy silence maybe.
Anyway the canadian turist guide was very friendly and properly informed us about everything.
Maybe we should have more time in the Monastries because time limit was very strict.
Foods was also totally overprized in the restaurants.

IT is a must see. The bus ride is long, but it is worth it. If you have more than one day to see the monasteries you might want to stay the night but if not, this is the perfect way.
The option of lunch is a good idea as you can meet the other people on the tour, have a meal without any hassle.
Remember to have at least 10 euros cash per head on you to go into the monasteries, you can´t pay the entrance fee with debit/credit card. They have that option in the souvenir shops though.

Overall, this was very enjoyable excursion. The history and geography of the area are fascinating, and the views are incredible. Our guide was a lovely young woman who grew up in the area and has intimate knowledge of both religious and archaeological aspects of the tour. The tour itself deserves a 5, in my opinion, but the bus ride from Athens is VERY long. The coach was air conditioned, but pretty cramped.

It was an incredible experience! The company was respectful regarding schedules and agreements. Guide was very good and gave a lot of historical information. Careful and attentive driver. Quiet trip, very nice view of the road. The trip is tiring at the end, but it's worth it. The only comment I would make is that it would be good if the buses that are already set up at the meeting place had a sheet with the name of each person riding on it, because we all got really lost not knowing which bus we were going on and that part of the beginning It's a bit boring, but everything worked out in the end. With the names on a sheet on the bus window, everything would be simpler and more organized. This would also help a lot for the driver, who is the one who receives the passengers.

The monasteries were fantastic. It is regrettable that they do not let you take pictures inside the main church rooms because I will never be able to remember everything. But, the best part of the trip for me was the fantastic guide Maria. She is an exceptional positive force in the universe. Exceptionally genuine, lovely smile, and very nice. You can't help but feel happy around this person. Since I was traveling by myself, I really had no one to speak to. But Maria made it a point to speak to me and made me feel much more included. I give the monasteries a 4.9/5.0 (just because I wish I could have taken pictures), but I give Maria a 5.0/5.0.
You sort of feel that you are short on time, but since the places are small and no pictures allowed inside the main rooms of each monastery, the amount of time they allot for each stop is pretty right on target practically. All you can really do in such a place that has centuries of artifacts, frescoes, etc., is sort of generally take it all in. Staring at these things for longer time does not really broaden the experience.
These are popular locations and so they were fairly crowded. But, people move along well, and so this isn't generally a problem.
I will say that tourists in general should be more accommodating of their rules. Each monastery says women must wear skirts below the knee. It says this everywhere, on line, at the sites, etc. But still every place we went, there were people arguing about it. It is not about how much skin is exposed, they don't allow women to wear spandex pants, shorts, jeans pants, short skirts, only skirts that go below the knee. They provide these as temporary wrap arounds, but these active monasteries have historical customs, and we must abide. Wear a medium length skirt if you are taking this trip and save yourself the trouble of needing to discuss this at every stop. Men must wear shorts that go to at least the knee also, nothing shorter.

This was a wonderful day trip from Athens. There was a mix up at the beginning with buses but that was fixed. It was a lot of fun and our guide was knowledgeable about the area. The lunch was delicious. A little advice: ladies should be in dresses below the knee and shoulders covered. Wear good walking shoes. The first monastery we went to had over 350 steps. It’s costs 3 euro per person per monastery and they only take cash.

This site currently wont let me edit the "number of children" and it pre-populates to one child. We are trying to book for 2 adults and 0 children- Does this trip require you to bring a child along?

Can you pay for the monasteries using a credit or debit card? If necessary, what is the best way to get euros before leaving for this trip?
撰写日期:2022年4月12日
Yes, women can wear pants. Only one monastery have restriction for women clothes, where they provide kerchief, surcharge (I don't remember the price but around 2 €, in think).

Hi, we are renting a car, can we drive to Meteora? If yes, is there a fee to tour the monastary?
撰写日期:2021年7月15日
Yes, you can drive to Meteora! There are some symbolic entrance fees for every monastery.

We are very healthy, but in our early 70s. Is the climbing steps going to be too much for us?
撰写日期:2021年6月30日
Just to confirm, the Athens railway station is the same as Larissi Station? If so, is the station we take to get to the Meteora? Does the e-ticket say which stop to get off train? How do we know where to meet guides at the Meteora?
撰写日期:2020年2月16日
The address of the Athens rail station is:
Karolou 1, Athina 104 37, Greece, TrainOse S.A.
The e-ticket will show Kalampaka as the name of the destination for Meteora. It is the end of the line for that little rural train from Athens. Almost everyone on the train will be doing the tour around Meteora. Just watch for guides carrying a TripAdvisor sign. You will have an opportunity to get some lunch before you board the bus.

Hi, are ladies allowed to wear jeans and visit the monastries? I've seen a picture detailing ladies wearing slacks / pantaloons will not be allowed entry?
撰写日期:2020年1月11日
When we were there in August, the concerns were women’s shoulders be covered and any skirts must be below knee. The monasteries provided wraps to either use as shawls or as long wrap skirts. I do not recall seeing any prohibitions about slacks or jeans.

First class sells quickly and there is only one car. I would try to make your reservations with the first class option. If it is sold out, the company will refund the difference to second class.
