A tour guide can make or break an experience. Ours was slow, just plodding along, he repeated himself, stopped to provide narrative in high density spots for long periods of time, creating bottle necks for other groups and finally the group was too big to get any value.
It was poorly organised, there was just a lot of sitting around in the bus. We were collected late from the pick up spot, only to then be driven to the office and wait in the bus for 30 minutes. Once Acropolis was completed bus was gridlocked in and couldn’t move. It was hot and water should have been provided at that point. The city “highlights” section were very underwhelming. Lunch was good but we had had enough by that point and decided to not bother with the drive to the cape
The acropolis is such a marvellous site though, I enjoyed my experience once we got past the stairs and I took out my headset and stopped listening to the guides repeated monotone stories

We are thanking you for your review.
Your guide was Mr Stathis Tsantekidis , one of the best guide of Greece not Athens and we are surprised that your only comment was that he was monotone...
Also you mentioned that you let your whispers and you stopped listen both guides.
As for the morning start , it is very clear written that the pick up service starts earlier than tour departure.
We are staring the check in and 08:45 is the departure.
The same happended at the airports, ports , train you have to check in to wait for the departure time.

It was an awful experience. First of all, its not a full day trip, its 2 trips apart. The guide at the first trip, while very knowledgable, didnt care much about giving the tour, she was in a hurry to finish it so she did it all increadibly fast. In the lunch part you are left on your on to reach the restaurant, where the food is not bad but the service is awful, they trear you like a second class citizen, the sitting is in the worst place possible, in the middle of the kitchen door, where the employees run (really run like crazy) around you. At one point one of them hit my table almost almost turning it over me. They dont tell you at what exact time the second tour starts so I completely miss it. DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING IT WITH THIS COMPANY

I was promptly picked up at my hotel by the 7:35 am scheduled pick-up time. We drove around picking up other guests before stopping at the Amalia Hotel at 8:30 am where our tour guide and more guests boarded. We were given a free map of Athens which I found to be quite handy. Tour got underway at around 8:50 am.
We drove around a number of sites and there were only two stops. First stop was at the Panathenaic Stadium for about 10 minutes and the other was at the Acropolis for almost 2 hours. I also shortened my lunch break by taking the optional guided tour of the Acropolis Museum. Our guide was very knowledgeable and approachable.
For lunch, I was dropped off at the Amalia Hotel’s Chrysalis Restaurant at 1:30 pm where I had a set menu of a starter of cheese omelet with 2 buns then the entree of grilled meat with potato and rice. I was also served a large Greek salad with the entree. Lunch was quite filling and satisfying.
At 2:30 pm, I was on the bus with a new guide for the trip to Cape Sounion. The bus ride took about 90 minutes to reach Cape Sounion with one 10-minute stop for a photo op. We spent about an hour at Cape Sounion before heading back to Athens. It was quite windy at Cape Sounion and a light jacket is recommended. We saw a colourful sunset during our trip back to Athens. I was dropped off by my hotel at 6:45 pm.
It was a long day but it was quite an enjoyable tour. The guides and driver did a great job.

The super saver: Full-Day Tour of Athens, Acropolis and Cape Sounio with Lunch, is the best option and value for money choise for any guest who wish to see the most important sites in Athens ( Acropolis, Temple of Poseidon ) included good meal and of course a small gift from us, informant map of Athens.

Anastasia was our fabulous expert guide, and she took us back in time, so we felt we were there with Goddess Athens. The highlight of the tour was the Acropolis, which is one of the best historical places to visit in the world. Enjoyed the museum, but did not enjoy 2 extremely rude UK guests verbally bullying our guide. Lucky 2 Aussies and I told them to get lost and to leave. The lunch was delicious and they catered for my gluten free requirements. Poseidon’s temple was gorgeous. Beautiful blue ocean. Loved this tour, will bring my family next time.

We took this tour and the sites we saw did not disappoint - they were amazing! You need to see the Acropolis and the Temple is drop-dead gorgeous. The three seas coming together create great backdrops for pictures that are postcard worthy.
On the downside, the morning tour was good but rushed. The guide was always walking off leaving the group to catch up (everything was very crowded) so we missed about 1/3 of what she was saying each time. The worst was at the Acropolis with all the tours yelling over each other, the guides yelling at each other, and unless you were next to the guide, you had no idea what she was saying - I just walked off to take pictures. After the Acropolis, we went to the museum - this was good but again, very crowded. There has to be a better way (like maybe on your own). The worst part of the day came in the middle. After the museum we were put back on the bus and started the "drop-offs". Little did we know, even though we had the entire day tour, we were a drop-off. At the last second, we (and about 6 others) asked if we were supposed to get off - we were at the hotel our lunch was supposed to be at. The guide looked at us like we were stupid and said "yes, that's why we are here". OK - so we all got off the bus, on our own, walked to the hotel, on our own, went to the restaurant, on our own, asked about lunch, on our own, had lunch by ourselves and then walked out to met completely different people to find our way to the afternoon part of our tour - all on our own!! This is why I booked a "full day" tour - so I wouldn't have to do this. We had a good day, but only because of the sites - the tour is horribly organized and I would not recommend it. If you want a tour - book the two independently of each other - that way you know you need to control what goes on and your not at the mercy of people who obviously don't care.

We would like to point out some things.
First and foremost , you could understand that all of the archaeological sites of Athens are considered to be highlights.
That means that it is quite logical to be crowded.
It is a condition that you are going to deal with all around the world at the famous sites. It is a common condition.
You mentioned on your own that all of the guides at the sites tried to handle the same situation .
As far as the rest of the day is concerned , we did not write in the description of your tour voucher that you will continueously be accompanied with a resepresantive of our company .
You have free time and lunch on your own .Of course , we always give the schedule details upon the departure.
So, you are informed about the timetable.
Thus , you are never at the mercy of people who dont' care. Nothing is set by chance without an organization.

The ancient monuments in Greece are spectacular! The acropolis is just awe inspiring. The age of that place is hard to comprehend. The view from the top is beautiful. As are the buildings. The temple of Posiedon on the cape was amazing. The view from the temple location was just spectacular! Anyone who loves history will love this tour.

We didn't realize that there is a 2 hour break between the Acropolis and Cape Sounion. The acropolis was great. We picked up people at two more spots after we got to the hotel meeting point. We were the only couple to have lunch back at the hotel and it was just really weird. We had a salad and omelette, which were fine, then followed by a meal of strange-tasting potatoes, rice (2 starches?) and four oblong ground beef patties. Get a tour without lunch. The long drive to Cape Sounion wasn't worth it.

Hi, if you have a back or front pack, you could enjoy this tour. It would be difficult to use a stroller as there is some walking and steep steps.
