Extremely informative and interesting tour of a lovely old Tsounati olive grove! Our guide Aspassia obviously knows and loves her subject well. We were treated to a lesson on the culture and history of this variety of olive, as well as olive oil production in general, as we walked through a picture grove in the golden hour of evening. After the tour we were taught how to properly sample three varieties of olive oil and took turns identifying the different flavors. Then we were able to try the varieties again, this time pairing with several different types of food, all prepared by our host and presented under the trees while kittens scampered around begging for attention! Wonderful setting, interesting lesson, and a new insight into something I realize now that I have always taken for granted!

Nous avons réservé cette activité sans recommandation particulière et nous ne le regrettons pas du tout. Nous avons passé un magnifique moment sous ces vieux oliviers et avons pu déguster de l'huile d'olive que nous avons pu accorder avec différents mets régionaux.
Tout ceci avec de très bonnes explications de notre hôtesse.
Nous la remercions pour ce moment génial que nous avons passé et nous recommandons vivement de faire cette activité chez Oliving in Crete 😊

This was an amazing experience.
Aspassia, our hostess, was a delightful, friendly and experienced lady. She explained all about the different kinds of olive oil and had us sample a few.
This was then followed by wonderful Cretan plates to sample with the different oils.
We went back home to check all the information on our current olive oil bottles :)
I would definitely recommend this activity to anyone who is looking for a nice, relaxing afternoon in an olive grove.

Wir hatten heute das Vergnügen der Olivenölverkostung. Es war eine tolle und einzigartige Erfahrung und wir haben sehr viel über dieses für Kreta so wichtige und gesunde Produkt gelernt. Es ging nicht nur um die Öle sondern auch um die Kultur Kretas und die Bedeutung der Olive für Kreta und Griechenland seit der Frühzeit. Diese informative Veranstaltung die wir exklusiv mit sehr leckerem lokalen Essen für uns als Paar alleine hatten, kann ich nur jedem empfehlen. Das Ambiente unter den uralten Olivenbäumen umgeben von Ziegen und Schafen war wirklich außergewöhnlich schön!! Absolute Topaktivität mit sehr engagierter und professioneller Führung. Vielen Dank!!

Tout est parfait dans cette expérience : l'accueil, le lieu, la découverte et la dégustation de l'huile d'olive, le repas... Aspassia est extrêmement sympathique et prend le temps de faire partager sa passion. Une autre façon de découvrir la Crête et l'un des moments forts de notre séjour.

Επισκεφτήκαμε το Αμάρι με την οικογένειά μου και περάσαμε τέλεια! πήγαμε σε ένα υπέροχο ελαιώνα, όπου κάτω από τη σκιά ενός δέντρου κυριολεκτικά, γευτήκαμε τοπικές ποικιλίες ελαιολάδου και άλλα τοπικά προϊόντα ενώ η Ασπασία μας είπε τα πάντα για το ελαιόλαδο, τις ποικιλίες και την σημασία που είχε και έχει για τους Κρητικούς. Τέλεια φιλοξενία, υπέροχη φύση και η Ασπασία ευγενική, υπομονετική και σουπερ ενημερωμενη. Το συστήνω ανεπιφύλακτα!!

Aspassia est une passionnée et arrive a nous transmettre très rapidement l’envie de mieux connaître la culture des oliviers, la cueillette des olives, le pressage et la dégustation. Is pickup from Rethymnon included or which is the easiest way to get there?

Transfer is not included, although we can offer a private transfer if you wish.
The easiest way to arrive in Amari Valley by car via Arkadi Monastry and then you drive 8 km to South - direction Moni Assomatos - Panakron Estate. (check google map or send me an e mail)
