A Good Day Out,

Booked a jeep safari to the white mountains ( 9-10-22 ) through the Jet2 rep at our hotel. Pick up exactly on time, 3 other people in jeep, drove off to meet up with rest of jeeps ( 3 in total ). Stopped at various places where the guy in charge would explain the history of where we were (he was very passionate about Crete). Our driver was a lady who was born in Yorkshire and had lived in Crete for a few years, she certainly knew how to handle a jeep. Our last stop was for a meal in a local village, the food just kept on coming, all in all the trip was an excellent day out and I would highly recommend it.

Excellent tour of authentic Crete. Tino was our driver and he was very informative and friendly. The other two drivers in our group from cruise ship were also excellent

Fantastic day highly recommended

Throughly enjoyed this trip. Our driver and guide Manos was fantastic. Very funny knowledgeable and lots of insights to the real Greece. The trip its self was great through villages up the mountains with stunning views and photo opportunities. Picked oranges and figs and learnt all about the local plants and herbs as well as all about the life of a shepherd. .

Tour of the white mountains off road

Great day up in the mountains

Today we did the White Mountains trip, as a couple. We had a great day. The tour started when they picked us up just by our hotel i Platanias, in a Land Rover Defender. It fits 8 people + driver, and you can take turn on the seats for the best wiew. The tour included several nice stops. Coffé/te-breaks, several photo-stops, guided stop at the highest point of the tour at the shepard's hut, and a traditional meal at a local taverna where the shepard's stay when they are not up in the high mountains. The tour had several stops with spectacular views. On this tour you get to see the authentic Crete, far away from the tourists. The guiding was unique, and really good, with alot of interesting facts and tales of the local area and culture. You could tell our guide had a lot of experience. I would recommend this tour for, just about, everyone, all ages (read the company health recommandations). Thank you for a great time.

Really good. Shame about the rude woman and guide in our vehicle
The mountains were beautiful and the shepherd and hut an interesting insight into a traditional way of life. The meal at the restaurant owned by the brother of the shepherd was average as expected on a group tour of 4 Land rovers carrying 30 people. We were in a new vehicle with air conditioning so it was very comfortable. The other vehicles carried 8 rather than 6 like ours and had no air conditioning but the bonus of open windows so extra photo opportunities.
There were several stops for picture taking and short talk about the history. For us there were too many stops and much of the talk was quite basic information. Our own guide repeated much of the same information but little else except for boasting that everyone living on create including him owns a gun illegally, mostly ak47. Probably untrue and not interesting to a tourist.

Exploring the mountains of Crete on a 4×4
We took this tour because we love the mountains. This is definitely a great way to explore those parts of Crete that are not easily accessible. We visited a Shepherd's hut and also ate fantastic food in a restaurant run by the Shepherd's wife. Our guide Jason was very entertaining and has excellent driving skills. The only thing I would suggest is to make those 4x4 a bit more comfortable or to have less people in them per trip.

Amazing Tour of Beautiful but Hard to Access Parts of Crete

This impressive tour offers amazing views of both the agricultural land as well as the high mountains of Crete. Many of the high mountain areas would be inaccessible without the tour operator's specialized vehicles. My group's driver, Giannis, navigated both the paved and the non-paved twisty and narrow roads extremely well. Along the way, Giannis (and at various stops along the way, other drivers) provided fascinating information about Crete in general and the hard way of life of shepherds in particular. Each of the stops were special and gave us a taste of, not only a shepherd's living conditions, but also the different villages in the areas that we traveled through. Lunch near the end of the tour at a restaurant operated by some of the shepherd's family members was delicious and we got to taste some of the fresh myzithra cheese he makes.

Fantastic trip - not to be missed!

We absolutely loved this trip and would recommend it to anyone (all ages and abilities). Our tour guide was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable (we even saw him again the next day at our hotel picking up more people and he was so happy to see us). After pick up you make your way to a small cafe where you can taste traditional Cretan tea (I would suggest this as it is beautiful). After this the off roading begins and it is fantastic. The drivers are so capable and we did not have any worries (even when we were on extremely narrow tracks). You have numerous stops on the way up the mountains to admire the views and learn more about Cretan history and culture. The highlight of the trip was reaching the top point and meeting the traditional Cretan shepherd who lives up in the mountains from May to October. We loved learning about his lifestyle and family, and our tour guide was very informative with what he was telling us (the dog was an added bonus as she was very friendly). After meeting the shepherd you head down to the local village where the shepherd's family restaurant is. The food was all amazing and we really enjoyed it.
