Booking the First Impressions private tour with Santorini Experts was definitely a highlight of our port of call in Greece. Kathrin made the booking process very easy and the lovely Agatha met us at the exit of the upper cable car station in Fira holding a sign with our name. Agatha shared her knowledge of Santorini with such passion and energy that you couldn't help but fall in love with the island too. We can't thank you enough for such an amazing day that we will never forget.

We went to Santorini on a cruise ship. Unfortunately, Kathrin had to wait a long time for us at the top of the cable car. But when we finally arrived, we were immediately captivated by her friendly nature.
We were given a great tour of the island, with lots of background information on the history and the country and people of the island.
Individual requests were implemented flexibly and at the end of the tour you felt like you were visiting friends.
Thank you again for the lovely time, dear Kathrin, and best wishes from the Ruhr area and Lake Constance.

Kathryn was a spectacular guide. She met us promptly, and after friendly introductions off, we went. Kathryn had lived on the island 25 and knew all there was to know about Santorini. There was a set itinerary, but she said we could make our tour whatever we wanted. As we had a wine tour booked on our own later, we started with the lookout at the monastery and overview of the caldera and learned about the volcanic eruption and creation of Santorini We drove to the black beach, walked through a village and learned about the construction of the houses and caves , the way the grapes were grown and baskets formed with the older vines to protect the grapes from the north winds and trap the humidity in the barron land that gets almost no rain and the soil is all ash and pumice. She pointed out many interesting things as she described Santoroni and and culture and entrance very recently into tourism, going from a very poor country to one of wealth. Our final stop as the sun came out was Oia with its beauty and charm. We travelled off season so many shops and restaurants were closed and there was a frenzy of construction and painting being done for the upcoming season, with mules carrying bags of cement to be mixed along the same steps we walked. It was cooler and few tourist, so there no lines and no waits for pictures and we got to see how everyone lived. We said goodbye as she dropped us back at our hotel. Highly recommend.

Ted was very professional and took us to every corner of the island. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Santorini.
The highlight of the tour was lunch in Akrotiri at The Dolphin where we had a seaside table.
It was also a pleasure to finally meet Kathrin, the owner of Santorini Experts, whom we had been dealing with for over 3 years.
Wonderful memories!

A private tour is always how we start our visit to a new place. For us, we came to Santorini to check a box and say we've been. After our tour, we realized Santorini is quite a bit more than awful crowds in Oai. It is a beautiful island rich in history and full of small towns that are more authentic and the landscape is much more than a sunset picture. Our wonderful guide and proprietor of Santorini Experts, Kathrin, did a phenomenal job of showing us exactly what we were looking for - a true locals perspective and tour. Kathrin is a highly professional, intuitive and fun guide, and the personal connection you have on a private tour makes all the difference in the world. I would not hesitate to book another tour with her if we are ever in Santorini again (which is unlikely).

Kathryn was wonderful to work with and very detail oriented. She planned a full day for our group of 11 to maximize our day. This included arranging a private water taxi and catamaran experience followed by a tour of the island in the afternoon with a wonderful guide.

This was ann excellent introductory tour to Santorini and the perfect way to start our time on the island. We visited the highest point of the island and then worked our way down to explore Pyrgos, the medieval kasteli. After that we spent a short time exploring Kamari, a black lava sand beach, before heading to a private wine tasting at Estate Argyros. We then drove to Oia and explored its iconic Main Street, blue-domed churches, and breathtaking scenic views. Our guide dropped us off at the end of the tour in Fira to explore on our own. It was the perfect first day in Santorini! Great communication on front end, reasonable pricing, a knowledgeable guide, and comfortable transport.

We took a private tour, so it was just my husband and myself. Agatha was our tour guide and she was amazing. She took us to the main highlights, and was flexible based on what we wanted to do. My husband cannot do a lot of walking or steps so she tailored this tour specifically for us. This was exactly what we need to get an overview of Santorini.

A recent business trip to Athens brought back memories from a few years when my wife and I travelled to Greece. I thought this commentary could be important given that we truly have found memories of Santorini. Breathtaking views from the cliffs of Thera, great wine tasting at Santo vineyard, and so much more. Santorini is very touristic so target months that are less hectic (April, May, September, October).

yes, the trip is totally customizable. It was a 1/2 day tour, you could book a full day if you want. Our guide was very knowledgeable and easy to chat with and ask questions, etc.

If you're on a cruise the ship anchors in the caldera which is the bay below the village of Fira on Santorini. You do tender in and from the small tender dock you can walk up 600+ steps, ride a mule, or take a tram up to the cliffside village for 6 Euro each way for the tram. TAKE the tram. Kathryn, the owner of the tour company, met us at the top of the tram and we walked a couple of blocks to her Mercedes Sedan. She is extremely personable and knowledgeable and drove us all over Santorini for four hours.
At the end she had made us late lunch reservations in Fira at a great restaurant and then we took the tram back down (800 ft.)

We arrive on a cruise ship. I hear that it can be a long wait to get the lift. I am worried that I may miss the pick up time. Where would we be met?

The wait depends on how many ships are there. There was only one other besides ours in April and there was literally no wait to go up. HOWVER, the wait to go back down was long, 20 minutes?, because everyone is going down about the same time.
We arranged a 10AM pick up time with Kathryn and I called her when we got on the tender to let her know. Absolutely no problem. Definitely use Santorini Experts!
