Stations were not approached in succession. Got into stop 1. At stop 3 terminus at the port. Everyone had to get out. It wasn't until 40 minutes. That's not the point. There was nothing to see here. Absolute time and money waste

An expensive waste of time. This cannot in any way be described as a proper sightseeing bus tour. The bus at the cruise terminal was busy with two ships in and priority was going to MSC customers as the company has an agreement and their passengers could sign cost back to their onboard account. The bus that was pulling in on our arrival left full up and we waited for the next one. No one had explained it was a 30.minute service or we most certainly would not gave booked.
Once we had boarded some 35 minutes after joining the queue the bus set off. Unfortunately the first stop was a closed water/theme park. However we were still.driven there and rode around the car park. Things did not improve as we were driven to the local bus station and around the homes and businesses of Visby. We alighted at bus stop 8 having apparently seen all.the tour offered outside the city walls.
A short walk took us into the town and we decided to head for the bus station got our return journey.
This led to total confusion as the bus station had absolutely no signposts indicating where the bus would stop. As a result we hovered along with others by the roadside. A look at the app showed the two red buses were apparently stationery at the cruise port while the green one was approving albeit slowly. We waited and waited. The bus started to move on the app apparently arriving at bus stop 6 and then nothing. By now over 50 minutes had passed. Eventually some 10 minutes later it headed towards us at the bus station. We tried to indicate that we required a stop and the driver gesticulate he was going round. Again no one had any idea which stop to head for so there was a mad rush. On finally getting onboard the bus was full with many standing. One person had 6 large bottles of water taking a seat so no.ond could sit on it.
The bus left and the driver announced that he would take 30 minutes break at stop 3, the cruise port. This came into sight and the bud swept past. Total confusion ensued as it appeared the stop was missed. Eventually we stopped at what was announced as stop 1. Many passengers rapidly alighted here believing their stop was missed. A simple announcement to say the cruise port would be called at in two stops time would gave helped. After this mass exodus those of us remaining were treated to a further stop for the ferry terminals where once again some of the remaining passengers left. Some of these people were on sticks and had limited mobility so it was very difficult for them. We did then travel.onwards to stop 3 where thankfully we could alight.
This so called ho ho bus was a travesty for its lack of a proper tour, cost, dreadful lack of buses after noon and most importantly for no information displayed at the bus station and no clarity on the stop for the cruise terminal. The MSC ship was carrying many nationalities yer only an English announcement was made by the driver. This led to total misunderstanding for many who ended up walking from stop 1 back to the cruise port when they had no need.
I would recommend under no circumstances should anyone use this rip off service for sightseeing as quite simply there is.nothing to see on most of the journey and a cruise shuttle is far better, particularly as in our case it would have been free!

If you want to just visit the Old Town do not get the HOHO just get the shuttle/taxi to the gates. Most of the stops on the route were bus/cruise/ferry terminals.

Hopped off to look at the botanic gardens. Wandered back to the bus stop just in time to see a bus pass by. The brochure said that buses were every half an hour or so and I waited and waited. Two hours later and getting very stressed, a bus finally arrived with another one close behind. No sorry, it’s not a very good service. Would not worry about taking it as it did not have very interesting stops. I don’t know what other option there was to get around so might be best to check out local buses instead,

Got on the bus at the cruise ship terminal which was very convenient. That’s where the positive ends. It was fairly expensive for a HoHo bus. Many seats had bird droppings. The route was basically a short scenic drive. There was only 1 stop that most people would want to get off or on — a gate into the walled area. They take a break for lunch. Supposed to be 12:00-1:00 but the bus refused us at 11:40 because he was going to lunch. We ended up taking a taxi back to the ship for $20.
Skip the HoHo and take a taxi or the ship’s shuttle to the main gate of the walled town.

When we returned from the visit, we had to wait 1h30 for the bus. The driver asked us to disembark to take his break. When he returned, queue management was disastrous. We almost couldn't get on the bus. Clearly a very unpleasant experience.
