We had a great time. Gummi was our guide the day we went. He was so knowledgeable. We ended up getting back after midnight which made the tour 17.5 hours but it was well worth it!

Glacier Lagoon odyssey in one day!

I was delighted to find a company that offered a one-day trip to Jokulsarlon from Reykjavik, and it seemed every place we stopped was more magnificent than the one before. We were on the road for over 16 hours, but I loved every minute. Gummi, the owner, was our driver, and he has an unbelievable encyclopediac memory of Iceland, its geography, culture and history. Everything he said was meaningful and fascinating. There are many, many tour companies with similar sounding names and promises, but this one is the real deal. I especially appreciated being able to take my time to get the best photos; it was a long day, but I never felt rushed. Thank you so much!

Amazing day trip

Ian is an amazing guide and driver. He is very knowledgeable and caring. The pickup was right on time and the small bus has plugs to charge the phone. The trip was incredible as we had time to enjoy the beautiful main attractions. If you do not rent a car I would definitely recommend it.

Well Balanced Tour
Well balanced between being informative and scenic. The guide, Ian, had a knack for seeing the history in things. His insight and knowledge of Iceland was a highlight of the tour that pushes this tour to the next level.

The tour itself lived up to the small group tag, where 5 of us travelled the five hour length from Reykjavík to Diamond Beach with well placed stops along the way. It is a long drive across south Iceland but the Basalt Columns and Glacier Lagoon was well worth the trip.

I recommend this tour as a way to learn more about Iceland while seeing some beautiful stops

It you have only one day to visit the Glacier Lagoon from Reykjavik, this is the way!

After reading all the reviews for this tour and our driver Gummi, (and the reviews for all the other south coast tours offered) I would advise to please completely disregard _anything_ negative you have read and book this if you want to do a one-day small group tour to the Glacier Lagoon from Reykjavik.

We knew it was going to be a long day (800 kms / 14 hours) and we also knew that in January, there would not be many hours of daylight. Gummi has this tour timed to perfection, making stops at Skogafoss, another beautiful waterfall en route, the glacial floodplain, the Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach around sunset. There were plenty of pit stops along the way for food et all, and though the day was long, it was certainly manageable and we never felt rushed.

And on the day we went, it was literally so windy planes couldn't land at Reykjavikd airport before 2:00 p.m., and at times we were driving in blizzard conditions. He checked the wind direction and driving conditions before we left to be fully prepared, and is an excellent, experienced driver, extremely interesting and knowledgeable about all aspects of Iceland, and a true professional. This was an amazing experience we will never forget!

Diese Tour war ein Highlight auf meiner Islandreise. Der Fahrer Gummi hat uns während der ganzen Fahrt mit spannenden Geschichten, Sagen und Fakten über Island unterhalten. Es war ein langer Tag, aber ich habe so viel erlebt und gesehen. Gummi hat auch Extrastops für uns eingebaut und uns Orte gezeigt, die nicht zur offiziellen Toue gehörten.

Ich nehme nur positive, unvergessliche Erinnerungen mit nach Hause und kann diese Tour deshalb nur weiter empfehlen.

Time flies and what a day

What a great day, I have to admit I was concerned on the length of the day but Gummi has got the itinerary down to a tee, there’s the right amount of comfort stops with plenty of opportunity to have lunch and dinner if like us you don’t want to take packed lunches.

On the road between the stops Gummi keeps you entertained with some great factual information and some Icelandic Saga’s making the journey seem much shorter

And this comes before the fantastic stops, 3 different waterfalls, the gorge, the churches, the diamond beach and the glacier lagoon

If you want to go to see the lagoon then use gateway to Iceland you won’t be disappointed, and if you’re really lucky you’ll get Gummi as your driver

Beautiful sights, trouble in the van

The sights were spectacular, leaving us with awesome lifetime memories and thus, the 4 star review. Gummi had some interesting stories which unfortunately we could not hear well because of the spotty sound system. 2 Fast 2 Furious: After a near miss with some bikers and suddenly veering off the road, a passenger asked if Gummi could slow down. He explained he was trying to fit all the stops in but then took a personal dislike to this passenger, blaming him for taking too long at stops and coughing on the back of Gummi's head. Gummi did not handle this clash well at all, arguing in the van in a voice far surpassing his weak tour guide microphone. We were very uncomfortable on the slower, silent ride back.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and pleased you enjoyed the sites on the tour and the wonderful gems Iceland has to offer. Sorry to read of your dissatisfaction and concerns, this came as a surprise as Gummi is a very attentive and caring driver guide with vast amounts of knowledge. Our guests' comfort and enjoyment is of the utmost importance to us and we take concerns like these very seriously. We are very sorry you could not hear the commentary properly, if Gummi had been aware he would have increased the volume accordingly. Regarding the incident with the cyclists, Gummi reacted according to the situation he was faced with to keep everyone on the bus safe. According to Icelandic law, cyclists must ride single file and wear reflective clothing. Unfortunately the cyclists were not abiding by the law and were difficult to see which was the reason for swerving. We are sorry for any misunderstanding over the speed and pace of the tour. There are a lot of sites to see whilst driven over a long distance and while our drivers are always accommodating so everyone gets sufficient time at each site, we do have a schedule to keep in order to complete the tour in the time without too many delays. Gummi always takes the guests' needs into consideration and had he been fully aware people were uncomfortable, that would have been addressed right away. The passenger who was coughing was given a face mask before the tour began and kindly asked to wear it but chose not to. Having sat directly behind Gummi, the passenger ended up coughing over his shoulder and back. The health and safety of our drivers is of equal importance as our guests and we would hope individuals are courteous to others and respect people's personal space. As a result of this incident, we hope no one got sick. The commentary on the tour continues throughout with most of it taking place on the way to the lagoon. Due to driving the same road back, a lot of our guests take the time on the return journey to relax or sleep and so this is commonly a quieter period of the tour. We have addressed this situation and strive to continue making improvements to our tours and the service we provide, our sincere apologies for the unpleasant or uncomfortable feelings you experienced, that was not intended.

Amazing day

It was a perfect day trip to see the beauty of Iceland, lots of explications, great spot for the pictures with the implicate guide.
I recomand this excursion to see the south
