A large selection of tourist destinations, unfortunately for that price I would have expected that the card would also include entry to the dome and all parts of the Festunghohen Salzburg. It wouldn't matter if the card was 2-3 euros more expensive, but let it be possible to visit everything important.

I bought a 3-day pass but 2 days are enough. It pays for itself very quickly. Public transport is included (even to go to Hellbrun, zoo, cable car and motorhome service area.......). The booklet is very practical and well done. I recommend you buy it. Be careful to go to the fortress before 11am and the boat cruise is not great.

Highly recommend this card. My daughter and I travelled from Vienna to Salzburg and got the 48 hour card for $70 total. Many of the attractions included are $12-20pp without the card. Some would definitely be a waste to buy separately. We did almost everything on the card except the boat trip as the river was low and any of the far away items. Anyone who pays individual admission for Mozart's house, the Salzburg Museum and others would be extremely upset because they would be a waste of $12 pp. On the plus side all these museums had the cleanest bathrooms. The funicular/fortress/armory/marionette already pay for the cost of the Salzburg card. Use the lift ticket not to see the art museum but to get the best sunset photos of all of Salzburg. The beer tour is a 30 min walk and worthwhile if you get the English tour. Children would love the toy museum and nature museum. Photo is from the Art Museum roof

This card seemed expensive but it got us into and into so many awesome things! It would have cost way more of we paid at each venue. We have done museums, cruise, castles, cable car (that was stunning) used trains and buses. I highly recommend it

I contacted the tourist office (very early March) before I visited (the week before lockdown) via the WhatsApp service they offer to ask for any recommendations for my stay with my mother as she is blind. They kindly researched and then messaged me a whole list of activities and locations which offer additional services for those who cannot see well.
Thoroughly impressed.

The lady in the tourist office bore comparison to the infamous quote from P.G. Wodehouse – “It has never been difficult to distinguish between a Scotsman with a grievance and a ray of sunshine”.
I asked, (in German mind), for two 72 hour Salzburg Cards and was silently presented with the booklet supplied with the card. Whereupon she went through it, page by page and struck a biro through four of the attractions – without a word. Some of which were understandable, (river “cruise” in winter anyone?), but one proved to be more inconvenient. For a period over January and February, the funicular railway to the top of the Festung, (castle), was not running due to maintenance work. Now that was a big deal.
She did in fact speak, as an order was “barked-out” to enter our full names, todays date and the time on the reverse of the cards. I briefly considered asking for a biro – but thought better of it. I managed to locate a chained biro, near the exit from the office. Quite the most unfriendly Tourist Office I have ever experienced. These places are usually staffed by bright young things, whose chirpy demeanour has roughly the same effect on me as “The Stone-Faced One”.
But what about the card itself? These kinds of cards can be roughly divided into two types. The first is the one you should definitely not buy. Someone, somewhere, calculates how much it would cost to visit each of the cities’ attractions, subtracts two Euro’s and make it a purchase fit only for those who treat museums and attractions, as a form of cultural speed-dating. Most cards fall into this category.
I’m not sure highlighting this is a good idea, as someone is bound to read this and think, “I knew that card was too much of a bargain”. This is because the Salzburg Card is, (IMHO), an absolute “steal”. The 72 hour card costs €39 in winter, (€44 in summer). The four main sights in Salzburg, (Festung, Domquartier, Mozart’s birthplace and Museum), would cost €46.90 in winter – a saving of almost €8, simply by visiting those four attractions alone. When you then add the rest of Salzburg’s considerable list of attractions and the free local public transport – the card is quite simply a “Must buy”, especially if you are staying for three days or more.

My main reason for going to Salzburg is to see the Sound of Music sites. My time is limited. Will this card be very useful? I saw very few attractions.
Hi, If you want to visit only the Sound of music sites, this card is not very useful, since most of the sound of music places can be accessed freely.

I'm not certain I'm translating your question correctly ... you may want to buy in person to start your card on the exact dates you desire.

The Salzburg card sounds great. Would I use it together with hop on hop off bus? The bus takes you to the sights to see. But you still have to pay to get in right? Would this card be good relying totally on public transportation?
I have a rental car for a few days. Thought I’d hit the out of the way things. Drop off the car and then get a Salzburg card. Does that make sense.
You can use this card on public transport. Entrance fees for monuments/places in Salzburg are included in this card. However walking covers many places in old quarter of the city and it is great pleasure of walking there. Don't miss Sound of Music tour

I have pre- purchased the Salzburg Card on line and need to pick it up on arrival.
I have 2 questions:
1. What time does the tourist office at the train station close ( my train arrives at 7pm)?
2. If I pick it up then, does my 48 hours commence, or only on usage?
Thanks ( in advance)
The first usage of the card initiates the 48-hour window.
I totally recommend planning usage strategically. For example, I bought a 24-hour card and started mid-day. I visited two museums the first afternoon and two more the next morning. If I'd activated the card in the morning, I'd not had time to visit four museums before they closed for the day. (I entered the fourth museum with about 15 minutes to spare -- but that didn't matter -- I was in the door!)
I don't know about where to pick-up your card -- I'd poke around the Salzburg card website.

Hi
Going to Salzburg in July.
Should we purchase Salzburg card beforehand or buy when we get there.
Thanks
It doesn’t really matter because if you buy before you go you get a paper receipt which then has to be taken to the station or a tourist office to be exchanged for an actual card anyway.I just like to pay for it before I go then it’s one less thing to be counted into your spending money

Bonjour
