I gave it a 4 out of five because the Christmas decorations were tired and obviously reused for years past their prime.
This is the season of Christmas in Austria! The venue is a castle fortress from the 1500’s!
It was painfully obvious to me that the person in charge of decor wears one to many hats and evidently has no idea what a difference those smaller details can make in a customers experience.
The bows on the wreaths were not even tied, just a limp old ribbon.
It really took away the “special and valued” component for me. This is not an inexpensive night out.
That being said, the staff was both helpful and cheerful. The venue was special, the food was good and the concert superb.

The concert was a highlight of our time in Salzburg. The programme was varied and of course included Mozart, this is the Salzburg Mozart ensemble after all. But we were enthralled with the Vivaldi, Winter and the soloist performance was outstanding. The Bach concerto BWV 1043 for 2 violins was my favourite piece. The rapport between performers a joy to see and hear. Traditional Austrian advent and countryside music at the end was charming and melodic. My one criticism is that the written programme didn’t give any information as to these pieces. There was a particularly beautiful performance highlighting the guitar player and I would love to know what it was…if anyone can say. The venue was very atmospheric and perfect setting for the music. There is a small bar area for interval drinks, included in some of the packages. We had the VIP since it was a birthday celebration which included the programme, drink, and the funicular. The meal at the restaurant was somewhat disappointing. White wine soup and the Nockerl were really good but the main courses were not so. One choice was trout fillet with potatoes and some pieces of pepper and onion, the whole meal was rather greasy. The other choice was vegetarian stuffed ravioli which was just ok, the stuffing rather dry. For us the concert was most definitely the main event but we were glad to have dined there, just a bit underwhelmed. My 5* is purely for the music, I’d give the restaurant probably 3* .

The visit to the Fortress is worth it, one of the most important attractions in Salzburg. The views just spectacular. The concert was very good, now dinner leaves much to be desired. Better eat before the concert somewhere else.

This was one of our very favorite experiences in Vienna. The fortress is beautiful and we arrived early so we can get up the funicular and see all the panoramic views before our dinner and concert. The service at the dinner was wonderful (the food could be improved but it was a full course meal just not our taste). The VIP wine and drinks was generous and we loved our great seats for the concert. The musicians were wonderful. There was a concerto pianist who joined the musicians and he was absolutely awesome. I only wished he played more than one piece. We were able to sit facing the left so I enjoyed watching his hands artistically play the octaves with beautiful skills and posture. Then, in the evening, you can take some beautiful pictures of the views from the Fortress at night. I would highly recommend! Wonderful and very romantic evening.

Dinner was lovely and the views were spectacular. The.concert was outstanding and something we would not have found on our own. I wish we would have had more time to explore the fortress, but overall this was a wonderful excursion.

This is a very worthwhile excursion with full value-for-money. Th meeting point is easy to find (we took an Uber) an the short boat tour was well-guided and interesting. The45-secondfunicular rid.e to the summit provides lots of photo opps. WEe were greeted warmly and showe to our seats for dinner. The menu was varied and the food was very good. Any drinks are at an additional cost, but the waiter service was first-rate. The Mozart concert is in a separate hall, nd th musicians were at th top o their art. You probably won't know ALL of the tunes they play, but you'll certainly know SOME of them. THe audience was knowledgeable and appreciativeand you get a complimntary glass ofsparklingwine. All in all , extemely cultured, and not to be miissed while in Salzburg.

Meal very average, service a bit haphazard on the eve we were there.
Beautiful fort, atmospheric setting for quartet and music fabulously performed .
Next time we would not book meal.. arrive early to explore fort and enjoy concert.

We were seated outside on the terrace overlooking Salzburg, which provided us with a beautiful view of the city and mountains from under a shady tree.
The service was excellent and the food delicious. We had the classic menu but there was a vegetarian option.
The concert was fantastic - in one of the rooms of the fortress, the atmosphere was perfect. It was very warm in the room due to the weather, however this was the only issue we had.
The repertoire was a nice selection of well known pieces by Mozart and others.

The VIP dinner was nice and the restaurant had beautiful views. However what made it 5 star for me was the concert. To hear Mozart, in the city of his birth in a beautiful music room in a fortress was truly magical. I would highly recommend.

With regards to the funicular, since the show starts at 6:30pm, but the last travel time stated is at 6pm. Would there be a funicular after the event (which I assume finishes between 10:00 - 10:30 Pm)?

Is entrance into the Fortress included? In other words, could we come early and explore the castle before dinner?

Yes! The combined dinner and show includes the cable car and access to wander around the castle. If going for dinner (6pm) I suggest getting to the funicular (cable car) at 4.30 - it may take 20 mins to get up depending on crowds, then you need time to wander and see the sunset! All before dinner. Reserve a window seat (if you can?) as we arrived 6.05pm and seating was jammed in so if you’re not by the window it’s tight with less views. A wonderful evening though! Concert is up another few flights of stairs and went from 8-9,30, long walk down many stairs to get back to cable car to go down.

I don’t know about the Winter Season.The VIP gave seating on the Terrace with View.Also free Glas of Champane at Intermission. You should Google it under „Dinner and Mozart“ that’s how I found out about it.I then called the # and made Reservations that way.You can also call to there to get verbal Info.
