What a terrific experience. The locations were as you would expect; surreal & full of thoughtful history. But Manfred, our guide, added a hue we didn't anticipate. As you embark on a tour in an unfamiliar place with an unfamiliar new face, Manfred's demeanor was positively engaging out of the gate. What a treat to experience a tour with a guide so committed to the experience and genuinely engaged as if you were old acquaintances. Really; very nice work. Highly recommended. We spent a lovely day with Patrick touring Hoenwerfen Castle and the Eagles Next area. We had the most amazing time! The tour was filled with great information, interesting stories, and enough time at local attractions that we were able to immerse ourselves in the history and experience. Patrick went above and beyond to follow up with us after the tour to share restaurant and local dish recommendations (after hearing us talk about our desire to have a more local experience). We tried several of his recommendations and it was the best food of the trip. We would rate the tour 10 full stars if we could!

I had high expectations for this tour but the scenery, our guide and the castles surpassed everything. Our guide Patrick was beyond excellent; knowledgeable, friendly and on every detail went the extra mile e.g. in the morning we stopped at the Gollinger waterfall which was an unexpected but beautiful treat. And then at lunchtime he'd made a reservation for us on the off chance at a hotel local to the Eagles Nest. We had a fantastic meal sitting on the roof terrace with views of the castle in a restaurant we would never have found ourselves. In addition Patrick had collected pictures, information & anecdotes which further enhanced the whole experience. It was a glorious day weather wise & I cannot praise Patrick highly enough. If you enjoy history, scenery and want a charming, knowledgeable & entertaining guide then this is the tour for you.

Manfred was exceptional once again!!! Taking us to all things SOUND OF MUSIC (including the places RARELY visited by most and impossible for tour buses), even showing the exact camera locations and confirming it with movie clips. Also showing us the ruins of Hitlers home hidden in the woods (only one other person there) which is not accessible to bus tours. Incredible…the history that Manfred conveys seems to comes effortlessly from a deep knowledge of the subject matter.

We did this tour and Patrick our tour guide was prompt in picking us up, he was incredibly polite and super knowledgeable being from Salzburg. He made our trip worth every penny and left nothing out ! We felt incredibly comfortable with him and even had lunch with him .
We cannot recommend him enough he went above and beyond thank you MCM tours 10/10 Patrick .

One of the best private tour companies we have used!
Manfred and Patrick do everything they can to make certain what you want to see and experience comes true! From picking you up at your hotel, to explaining in detail the background histories concerning where you are going to visit, to going the extra mile (literally) to sneak in an extra site, they are a delight to spend the day with:-)! Actually, for us it was two days! We liked our first day of private touring with them so much that we booked an additional day! We highly recommend you contact MCM Tours & Travel Salzburg for all of your sightseeing needs in Salzburg and surrounding areas!

Ein leichter Fußweg und man erreicht die Burg, es gibt aber auch eine Kabinenbahn. Die Burganlage ist top erhalten. Sehr zu empfehlen ist die Burgtour. Vom Glockenturm hat man einen herrlichen Ausblick. Das grande Finale ist die Glug Show der Greifvögel. Wir haben locker vier Sunden in de Burg verbracht. Für Kids absolut ein Highlight.

Incredible scenery from, perhaps, the best mountaintop in the Alps. History pictured with FDR, Chamberlain, And the villains of WWII. Pretty drive up and short walk from house to best view. Check months closed before going.

The lift up to the castle makes it so much easier and the bird show and all the other activities they do there are great. Easy place to spend a full day and great history to the place as well.
