Mayerling really beautifully laid out. Pretty quick visit here, the countryside is so lovely and green. Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz is beautiful and peaceful. We were treated to a cake and coffee which was a nice surprise. Baden was quiet as were there on Sunday so no shops open. Tour can no longer visit the subterranean lakes.

Avevo prenotato la visita espressamente per escursione al lago sotterraneo e venire a sapere solo sul bus che da 3 mesi non e' possibile effettuala non mi sembra corretto.

This was a good half day tour to don’t bus. The drive through the Vienna Woods is lovely and peaceful. It is so green and lots of trees. Something I didn’t expect so close to the city. The country side is lovely
There were about 30 or so people on the tour and our guide was informative.
Another interesting activity was visiting the Seegrotte which used to be a gypsum mine then secret aircraft manufacturer during the war. You have to walk through a tunnel to get to the mines and underground lake. Not difficult to do. We had another guide showing us this area and then take us on a short 10 minute or less boat ride around this artificial lake. It was interesting.
Then we went to the old Cistercian’s monastery which was interesting. We saw a lot of the complex but I felt it was a little rushed and would have liked more time to take everything in. Especially waiting to take photos with a large group. We were fortunate to hear part of a mass with the monks praying. The monastery was interesting and full of history.
Then back on the bus and we drove through Baden town with the tour guide giving us some history about it.
Then we literally stopped at the Mayerling hunting lodge I thought we were going to ‘explore’ and did a u-turn to go back to Vienna. Got a little bit of history about it but didn’t get out of the bus to visit it. So that part of the tour was a little deceiving. Hence the four stars. But the rest was good.

An opportunity to relax and be away from Vienna city. Well organised and a varied trip covering the hunting lodge and Prince Rudolph and his mistress fate, the abbey and underground sea lake including a boat trip. The tour guide provided a detailed explanation in three languages throughout the whole trip.

This was an interesting short tour to the outskirts of Vienna. The tour guide was excellent and kept us engaged throughout the trip with facts about the areas we were passing through. The journey was interesting with grand old homes dotting the countryside.The hunting lodge at Meyerling where Crown Prince Rudolph committed suicide and is now a small museum and carmelite nunnery was impressive with expansive grounds and we got the perfect weather there with bright sun and newly laid snow. Then we went to see the Cisterian Monastery with its beautuful buildings and architecture. This was followed by a visit to the gypsum mines with a well explained commentary on the life of the miners during that time. All in all half a day well spent and definitely a must do when in Vienna.

Good half day trip if you are interested in Mayerling and the cave but if you really want to see the Vienna Woods I would say find something else or go on your own. Also only do it if you have extra time, otherwise there is a lot to see in Vienna better than this.

My kids loved the Vienna Woods. Not because of the woods perse because you don't get out of the bus in the woods for a hike or to admire nature but for what sights we did see in the "Woods."
First was Mayerling. A nice stop but a short 30 minutes is all that was needed.
The Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz, our second stop was fantastic. Learning about the Monks while being able to see some of the over 100 Monks actually walking about and doing what they do made this visit special. In addition to the history of the Abbey, we also learned so much about how the Monks pray and what they do. The cathedral was simply beautiful.
The last stop at the subterranean caves was also interesting. Prepare for about 50 degrees inside of the cave all year. We loved it but many were cold. Learning about how the Nazi's used it to build airplane parts towards the end of WWII made my kids uneasy but it's part of life. We need to learn from history so that we don't let it happen again.

This was a comfortable bus tour out into the countryside around Vienna. The trip through Baden went pretty quick so can't say we saw much of this pretty looking town. Like a previous reviewer, I was disappointed that our tour was in two languages - it takes away from the continuity of the information. Our guide Ernest was knowledgeable and approachable for questions. The visit to the Carmelite church and the connection to history was interesting and informative. Amazing glass and structures at Heiligenkrenz monastery. The highlight though was the tour of the old gypsum mine, Seegrotte and how it was used during WW2. It is a bit of a long walk in and out with a set of rather steep stairs at the water. You will be lucky if you actually get a good view of the Lichtenstein castle!

Comfortable motor coach. Nice drive through Baden. The tour guide was polite but not the least bit warm. It seemed he was just going through the motions. The sights are only modestly interesting. I was hoping to see the grave site of Mary Vetsera, but the guide was somewhat adverse to telling us where it was. Tour was advertised as in English but it turned out to be English and Spanish.

However, we always try to split them on several busses if possible. Unfortunately, on the day of your tour it seemed that this was not possible.
