Last month I finally found a perfect weekend for attempting the Pulpit Rocket. As a total novice in hiking, I decided to book a hike with Outdoorlife Norway for the following day. After having received a confirmation from the organizer I booked a flight and hotel and went to the airport. I then received a mail from the organizer saying that due to a clerical error I should not have been able to book this tour. 30 minutes later another mail confirmed that the tour was booked, and they would pick me up at my hotel the following morning. Then yet another mail saying that no there was no trip, by now I have arrived in Stavanger. Outdoorlife Norway offered me the money back or a different tour that started at 3.15 am. I have never hiked or climbed anything, so my first time was not going to be in darkness, therefore I chose the money back. The following day I took the normal bus to The Pulpit Rocket and climbed on my own during the daytime. Don’t get me wrong the hike is fantastic, and I am sure that the people that work for Outdoorlife Norway are really good when they do their hikes. However, my advice is to save your money and do it on your own as it is a fairly easy hike as far as hikes go.

Thanks for your feedback. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the hike on your own. Some find hiking to Preikestolen easy, some find it hard. Some people happily hike on their own, while others prefer a guided tour. This choice is personal and free to make.
Our tours are designed to provide guests with a different experience than what people would do on their own. Many guests have happily joined our guided tours to explore hidden trails and viewpoint, enjoy the hike together with a small group of other travelers, having access to equipment under more challenging conditions, learning about the history, culture, flora, and fauna, finding the best photo spots, or just not having to worry about any logistics.
Concerning the booking process: we apologize for any inconvenience caused. The date on which you wanted to join this tour was supposedly blocked in our booking system and on our website, so it should not have been bookable. Due to a human mistake, made by me (Johannes), the system still allowed you to book this specific departure.
Within 15 minutes after the booking was made, we discovered the error. We immediately reached out personally. We were transparent, communicating the cause and offering an explanation, apology, alternative solutions, including a rebooking/free upgrading to our signature tour (Preikestolen Sunrise Hike) that was planned for the same date. In our personal communication, we tried to clarify why the system had already sent automatic emails.
When the upgrade was rejected by the guest, a full refund was offered, along with information about alternative ways to still reach and experience Preikestolen. All questions were answered and the situation was solved and closed in the best possible way and with the best intentions.
We are therefore devastated to receive this rating, but realize a small human error can have consequences.
We can assure readers that this kind of system errors are very rare and that we will continue to improve our routines. But we are only human too. Whenever a human mistake is made, we will always offer upgrades and/or free add-ons, alternatives, or a full refund.
We are always here to answer any questions guests may have before they decide to book a guided tour or not. If guests have questions about availability, they can check and book directly on our website and/or contact us by email or phone.

Fantastisk oplevelse. Vi blev afhentet ved vores hotel til tiden Guiden fortalte om det vi passerede mens vi kørte til aktiviteten. ALLE personaler var imødekommende og professionelle. Vores turguide var perfekt
Hiken op var krydret med informationer om hvad vi kunne se. Ruten var væk fra alle de andre besøgende , hvilket passede os fint.
Hiken var ikke nem, men belønningen var en fantastisk oplevelse. Så de penge vi betalte var det hele værd.
KLART anbefalings værdig, og specielt hvis man har mod på lidt udfordring.
Hiken op var krydret med informationer om hvad vi kunne se. Ruten var væk fra alle de andre besøgende , hvilket passede os fint.
Hiken var ikke nem, men belønningen var en fantastisk oplevelse. Så de penge vi betalte var det hele værd.
