Mohammed was absolutely phenomenal! Very knowledgeable about the area of Nizwa, bakarat almawz and fanja , he shared fascinating stories, and made sure I felt engaged throughout the entire tour. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he really brought the history and culture to life for me. I would highly recommend Mohammed and Fanja Tours.

A very exciting tour with interesting places and a very friendly guide. The tour in the small group (even me) was very individual. Unfortunately, the tour was a bit shorter than expected, so I deducted one point.

Together with Mohammed we had the opportunity to spend a very interesting and adventurous day in Fanja, Sumail, Nizwa, Izki and Birkat al Mouz. It was obviously very important to him to give us as much of the Omani culture as possible. At every opportunity we got coffee, tea or typical Omani food. We really liked it very much!

I would like to thank this company for allowing me to book this tour at the last possible minute. I booked it the morning of the tour, where all others had availabilities for the following day. Great communication through WhatsApp on ensuring that they had received my confirmation and that they were sending me my guide for pick up at my hotel. I had the privilege of having Mohammed Al Ghatrifi as my personal guide. Not only was he knowledgeable, he was very personable and accommodating. Thank you so much Mohammed! I had such a great experience enjoying the beauty of Fanja, Nizwa, Izmir, and Samal. You even took me to the impressive Wadi Dayqah Dam, which most tourists overlook! Thank you so much! I look forward to returning to Oman.

10/10 would recommend. Mohammed was very knowledgeable from the vast history of Oman, explaining the culture of the wonderful people of Oman and even giving recommendations of best coffee, dates, halwa and frankincense to buy! Mohammed was really great to talk to aswell 👏

We were just the two of us on this excursion. Ghusun took us to interesting places and was also ready to make some changes to the program for us. The trip was absolutely worthwhile.

I really enjoyed this tour! My guide was extremely hospitable and knowledgeable of the history of Oman. I would recommend this tour to friends visiting the country for the first time.

My husband and I were looking for a convenient and engaging way to get to know Oman as we had limited time in Muscat.
The tour was perfect - our guide Qaseem was amazing! He gave us so much insight into the Omani way of life, its rich history and so many interesting facts that we would have never been able to appreciate any other way.
He picked us up perfectly on time and communication with the company was great.
Qaseem was super entertaining and answered all our incessant questions! We saw the most beautiful sights and he took us to some hidden viewing spots that only a local would know.
We absolutely loved our day out with him - he even sang to us live after showing us the music he makes outside of this work. It was so good!
We always look to delve into the culture wherever we visit, and this tour was absolutely brilliant in getting us to understand Oman really well. The place is beautifully and the people are so lovely.
We'd both recommend booking this to anyone!
For general tips to travellers -
- Wear comfortable walking sandals. You'll be in your feet a lot and there was a bit of climbing / trekking (you obviously don't have to do this but if you want the views, it's a must!)
At the fort, there are a lot of stairs so just keep that in mind too. To be honest, everything is so incredible to look at, you really won't care about it!
- We were provided with some fruit and water to eat. The fruit was so good! Take a long some snacks yourself though for a bit extra sustenance.
- The souk at the fort closes at 1 and reopens at 4. If you want to buy things from it, maybe have a look through before exploring the fort because the time really whizzes past! We actually wanted to try the halwa but got to the shop too late because we were so enthralled by the fort and gardens!
