This trip was amazing but beware if you struggle walking you won't make it to the glscier.
My mum and I did this as an excursion from a P&O cruise of the Norwegian fjords.
My mum is disabled and has a mobility walker and can't walk very well. We knew she wouldn't make it to the glscier but wanted to go on the troll cart.
The coach from the ship to the troll carts was stunning.
Once we arrived, we were disappointed that there is no small buggy to take disabled passengers to the troll carts. Our coach parked the furthest away which meant my mum had to walk 200m.
The ride on the carts was great and we didn't get wet from the waterfall. They provide plastic sheeting to cover your legs.
I walked to the glacier, around 1k. The driver kindly took my mum back down the mountain where she had a coffee. You only get 45 minutes to walk to the glacier and back.
As part of our booking you get FREE cake, tea or coffee before you board the coach. Make sure you go into the correct room in the cafe as we didn't realise and paid for coffee and cake.
I would highly recommend this excursion as the glacier is stunning

We loved the tour and especially the guide. We had bad weather when we reached the glacier but we were prepared and everything was great. To repeat with this agency. Thank you very much. Although the glacier is retreating, I think there are better ones.

Yes indeed the view is spectacular, we in southern Italy do not have such views, but if you do not take the cars that go up to the top you do not see anything, and the cars have a separate cost beyond the excursion fee, almost 30 euros per person, in Norway all very expensive, and the journey quite adrenaline

The hike goes to the same locations as the troll cars. The only difference with the troll cars, is you don't hike. :) We hope that you enjoyed your vacation here in Norway. Thank you for joining us!

Given that I find no other reason to visit Olden, the hike is really very nice. There are several TO that propose it together with that of Costa (our carrier).
They will take you to a station where the path that leads to under the Briksdal Glacier starts. If I were you I would carefully consider the option of taking a troll-car (ticket for about E 20/25) that will take you comfortably to the end of the trail. They are only 2.5 km but with a considerable difference in altitude. Besides, I'm built for comfort.
The view, once arrived is really very nice.
If you use the troll-car beware that you will pass near a waterfall that will wet you largely so better to have something waterproof on.
They also provide a kind of wax to cover from the waist down, but above you are exposed.
A nice outing.

It was a very nice hike. Lovely landscapes seen, beautiful glacier, competent and friendly Guide. Only it would have taken at least half an hour more to calmly admire those wonderful places and maybe take a walk in the gift shop.

Beautiful hike and beautiful places. Despite the rain it was a wonderful experience and the places seen are really magical. Also interesting transfer the bus, made even more interesting by the Samuel Guide who entertained us with an overview of the place and its peculiarities.

I was really looking forward to this trip, this one was basically fantastic as well, but friends only paid half per person for a pure transfer to the same parking lot on the glacier, so I don't feel the price ratio is OK. My advice to all who want to visit the glacier: either taxi or look for a cheaper alternative. Finally, this tour was also just a short transfer with a stopover for a photo on the way back.
However, what I found very negative: the tour was actually booked in German, that this is only done in English after feedback, I feel as fine. That then everything was translated into Italian especially for the Italians on board and these people had to talk so loudly when speaking English that you didn't understand anything yourself ... well. I would therefore have liked a pure tour in English, so unfortunately as already mentioned it would only be a pure transfer for me.
However, what I found very negative: the tour was actually booked in German, that this is only done in English after feedback, I feel as fine. That then everything was translated into Italian especially for the Italians on board and these people had to talk so loudly when speaking English that you didn't understand anything yourself ... well. We get guests with multiple language requests and unfortunately cannot accommodate all languages - the tour will be guided in the most requested language or languages. Hello! It's easy to arrive to the meeting point from Nordfjord? We are a big family (15 persons) and we want to go to Briskdal but our cruise arrival is in Nordfjord and i don't see any option to go from there! :(

Is this suitable for a 7 month old baby do you think? Could you use a stroller on the hike, or would you struggle in parts? I've seen troll cars but not sure how safe they would be for a little'un? And finally, do you need to bring a car seat for the coach there and back? Many thanks for any insights you can give us! :-)
