Travelled all the way to Poland from the uk and then the night before we were going to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau the tour was cancelled which was very disappointing as this was booked weeks in advance and was the main reason for our trip. The tour operator did refund us.
The next day we decided to take our hire car to the camps and just to have a look to see what we could see ,to our amazement the museums were free entry and we walked straight in.
We told the museum what happened and they said this happens all the time with tour operators and the museum will not accept tickets that haven’t been booked though there own personal website.
The visit was very moving and well worth a visit

The tour operator was superb. Booked from England and their communication could not be faulted.
On the morning our driver - Przemek (pronounced Chemek) - arrived on time. He was amazing. A great driver, to start. Very calm, never felt rushed, explained everything very clearly and he even sorted out a packed lunch for the four of us. He made our day very special and this was worth every penny of the cost.
Auschwitz was dreadful and Birkenau horrific. Please do not misunderstand. The tours was interesting, done with great sympathy, but these places have such a dark past and that, for me, just exuded from every footstep. I was here to not forget and to pay my respects. People laughing and joking on the tours and the walks around these camps seemed out of place and inappropriate … but it happened. People talking in areas where the signs asked you to reflect in quiet contemplation and remembrance was common. But none of this detracted from the horrors committed here. Much more of an educational trip than a tourist attraction, I learn’t so much and had many preconceptions corrected.
We saw but a fraction of what is here and I would probably come back. The scale of Birkenau was breathtaking. I had no idea at just how vast it was.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and was most considerate of the fact that we four were the oldest and slowest in the group.
The salt mines are also a must visit. There is a lot of walking - and we would have appreciated a little more warning for the salt mine guide of the final 20 minute walk to the lift to get you back above the ground (because the main shaft had ongoing works).
This trip is stunning. The artistry, the cleverness and the construction of the museum is a real wonder.
Overall five stars just doesn’t seem to do the day it justice, but it is all I can give. Thank you.

Did the one day Auschwitz Berkenau and Salt Mine tour at the end of January. The tour was really well organised. Out driver Daniel was very pleasant, punctual and informative. He picked us up and dropped us back to our hotel and took us to a great location for lunch. Would recommend using these guys if intending to visit Auschwitz.

Neither of these visits should be missed. Awe inspiring mine workings demonstrating the best of human cooperation, and then the horror of Auschwitz, a salutary lesson which should be a mandatory visit for year 11 schoolchildren across the whole of Europe.

Well we where picked up at 8.05 am was phoned the night before to say it will be 8.05 not 8 am. Carnt fault that service.
Was a nice bus. Auschwitz is around 1.5hours to the first camp. And them after that it's 5mins to the 2nd camp
Auschwitz well... This is a weird place. So much emotion its Deffently a place you have to visit but its so eerie. We had a tour and there are areas you carnt take pictures but them when taking pictures in some areas you just don't feel like it.
Auschwitz 2 is the camp with the train line. Yet again it's such a emotional area
Yes it's true didn't hear any birds at all.
We had our lunch after this. Supplied by the tour.... Not the best if your pickey with food. But areas to buy food.
After this it's 1.5 hours to the salt mines... Atmosphere on the bus is weird more quiet. The salt mines a OK trip but lasts 2.5 hours and alot of walking.
Gets abit boring as there rushing groups threw with your guide. So it gets to a point your waiting in a que to view a display but you've watching it in a different language while waiting for your go. And the group behind etc.
Once you've seen 1 bit off salt the corridors are the same. Best bits the chapple but was good to get your mind off stuff.
After that it's 25min back to krakow
