Food excellent and generally excellent service. However, what dragged the score down is as follows
1.The advertised 2 hour cruise was only 1 hour 55 minutes. No, I'm not that pedantic, but we also spent 25 minutes tied up at Darling Harbour making a total discount of 25% off the advertised cruise time.
2.Booking Office at Circular Quay not very helpful particularly being unable ro explain why the two of us could not have the same choice of meal (there were only two choices)
3. Ordering wine on board was a nightmare with us being forced to scan the code on the table. My authorising code was not received but fortunately another member of staff was more sympathetic and took the order in the old fashioned way.
I would have left this review on the company website, but there seems no facility. I wonder why?

We booked this as a sunset dinner cruise. Only, by the time we had set sail, it was dark. Therefore, we didn’t take any sunset pictures, or see any of the harbour landmarks.
The quality of the food was ok but there was one strange thing. There is a choice of two starters, two mains and two desserts. The waiter initially brought us one of each but we said we hadn’t ordered. He informed us that’s how they do it and you are supposed to share. We said we didn’t want to, so he brought us both the salmon. The same happened with the main, so we sent one back and both had the chicken. The desserts were fine because we wanted different things. It’s the most bizarre thing I have ever come across when eating out. Just stick to your guns and make sure you eat what you want, not what’s put in front of you.
The cruise lasts for a couple of hours and we did enjoy it overall. We did get some good night shots. However, our plan was to get some nice sunset shots with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House in the foreground. It is advertised as a sunset cruise after all.
So, a word of caution. This ‘Sunset Dinner Cruise’ leaves far too late, 17.30 from Circular Quay. Sunset was at 17.10, so by the time we had got out into the harbour it was pitch black.
There’s live entertainment onboard but we felt a little sorry for them because we were all on the top deck taking in the views.
Not the best trip we’ve ever booked but we’ll just put it down to experience.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Unfortunately due to the changing daylight hours throughout the year, we cannot guarantee that there will be a sunset during the 'sunset dinner cruise'. This is why we have a 'guide to the sunset times' section on the booking page of our website - to ensure our customers are aware that we cannot promise a sunset.
In regards to the menu, 'All dishes served alternately' is at the top of the page - which his available to view prior to booking, we do offer more meal options on our later starlight dinner cruise, which might be better suited if you would like more choice. Although it is worth noting that this style of dining is a very traditional Australian custom, so you may have never come across this before.
We are glad you enjoyed the other aspects of the cruise though, and we hope you had a lovely day overall.

It was a great way to see Sydney… Good photo opportunities. The food was good, but there were two appetizers, main dish, and dessert offered. At a table for two you received one of each, no choices.

A family of 5 with teenage children did the Sunset Dinner Cruise and the experience was fantastic. From boarding the ship and being seated at the table to the great quality of food the cruise was better that I thought it would be. The views of Sydney Harbour from the water at night time was incredible. While at first I was skeptical about ordering drip via the QR code on the table after the initial set up the system was great and drinks arrived promptly.

We took friends on the sunset dinner cruise to celebrate their silver wedding whilst they were visiting from the UK. We boarded on Kings wharf and spent a lovely few hours circling in the harbour as the sun set. The staff were lovely. I was impressed by the standard of the food and the drinks weren’t overpriced. I’d definitely recommend this for visitors to Sydney .

We were in Sydney for two days as part of a Princess Cruise tour. We had the evening to ourselves, so we booked the sunset Harbour cruise. As stated in other reviews, you are not given a choice at dinner. I was given smoked salmon (as the first course) and my husband got a pear salad, I was served fish for dinner and my husband got chicken. For dessert I was served a lemon tart and my husband got a chocolate dessert. I couldn't eat the fish or dessert, so hubby got 2 desserts and most of the fish. There was a nice singer on board. I was so disappointed because we left a bit after 5:00 and were back well before sunset. The food service staff was great and the views were very pretty, but I should have investigated more before choosing this particular boat ride.

We are most disappointed to hear we haven't met the high expectations you've come to expect of Captain Cook Cruises. Unfortunately this time of year we can't guarantee a sunset on a Sunset Dinner Cruise due to our long Summer days. As stated on our website in "A Guide to Sunset times in Sydney", our Summer sunset times are later than other seasons: Dec 7.52pm - Feb 7.33pm.

We had set menu. More options would have been nicer. It was a beautiful boat. Music was good. If you want a seat by the window, go for the 8 course option. We picked the 3 course and they gave you two meal options. They bring both options to the table. One was chicken and one was a fish main. We had to choose to share or one person eats the fish and the other the chicken. Entrees and desserts were the same. They bring both selections and you either share or each select one or the other.
Entree was a walnut pear salad and the other was a smoked salmon.
If you both like the same entree, main and dessert then you basically have one dinner to share. If you are open to different types of food then you get share both food options.

Views and music were very exceptional. I ordered the eggplant which was very tasty. My husband ordered the steak which was so tough he could only eat a few bites. We cruised on Friday night, before the pride weekend started and businesses along the harbor, boats on the water AND the opera house were lit up in beautiful rainbow colors. Enjoyed getting to know the couple seated beside us.
