We thoroughly enjoyed our glamping experience with Intrepid in August this year. We were a family group (with three teenagers and two adults) and we all really appreciated having an experienced guide to show us a range of highlights from this vast area. The scenery was amazing - amazing waterfalls, a billabong full of salty crocodiles, a flight over kakadu, Katherine Gorge and a very positive "small group" atmosphere. Food is basic, but all dietary restrictions catered for. Highly recommended for those who want to be able to see more than you could on your own (like rock art or three swimming holes in one day), and who are looking for a good compromise between camping and hotels.

Just returned from this 4 day adventure - highly recommend. Our guide Dan was knowledgeable, energetic & thoughtful. Can not fault safari format & timing of stops, food or facilities. Optional extras of Kakadu flight & Katherine Gorge cruise is a must.

A great experience, a little out of my comfort zone! A fabulous knowledgeable guide who took us to some wonderful sights of outback NT.
Lots of fun but be prepared for pitching in with food prep with your travel buddies.
The tents are clean and adequate.
Loved my intrepid experience.
Our guide Elliot was fun and very informative highlighting the culture and the ecosystem along with the wildlife!

wow !! Such a great trip with very knowledgable Paul (meatloaf) & enthusiastic, very helpful young Elliot who were our tour guides. Elliott was great help to us 'oldies' on the walks & had great concern for all the members of the group (young & old)..we had to change our itinerary around abit because of Anzac Day holiday & some were dissapointed as they couldn't go on the optional flight..but it meant we could see & do other things along the way E.g, visit the war cemetary at Adelaide River !! The standing tents were clean & functional -although the ones at Litchfield Park were fairly open & we had a very cold night with only 1 blanket supplied for 2 in a twin share!! but the other two nights were more comfortable... My advice for others going on this tour is to rug up at Litchfield & to take a bath towel along with your beach towel -as only the camp at Katherine supplied one!! The camp kitchens were such fun with the group helping with preparing food & cleaning up ...everyone got on really well & Kakadu National park was spectacular!!

We sorry to learn of that chilli night in Litchfield National Park and were a blanket short, it is through feedback like yours that we are able to review and make improvements. Just do it....
Rick our guide for this tour was amazing, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience that proved to be outstanding, our group of 13 had people from all across the world aged in their 20's through to 60's and we all got along famously. We had the option on day 2 to take a scenic flight over Kakadu on a fixed winged aircraft $250 pp, this was money well spent, the views are breathtaking. I can't pick a highlight, as the the whole 4 days / 3 nights was great. The last night stay with Ally at Katherine was pretty special and much appreciated.
I would highly recommend this tour, I just loved it.

What you will see and do: Swim in freshwater gorges, see aboriginal rock art in Kakadu, climb to an amazing lookout in Kakadu, sail down the Katherine Gorge, attend an aboriginal cultural presentation in Katherine, see lots of bird and animal wildlife and be amazed at the wonderful landscape that is Northern Australia.
The basics: Make sure you contact Intrepid (Adventure Tours) 24 hours before you go and a) be clear you understand where they will pick you up from and b) let them know if you have any dietary or health issues. On our tour there were guests who were confused about where they should be picked up from, but our guide Rick made a big effort to drive all around Darwin trying to find them - and he did !
Also we had guests with gluten allergies and those who needed to keep medicine refrigerated - Rick handled all this with ease.
Make sure you call Intrepid - don't rely on your travel agent passing on this information - trust me on this one !
There is a 10Kg bag limit - this is because there is limited storage space on the bus. If you have one of those larger hard cases you see come out on the carousel at the airport then it will probably be carried on the roof of the bus - under a tarpaulin. In general you won't get access to your bag during the day so bring a smaller bag to keep with you on the bus
Where you will stay: in permanent tents with a proper floor and power - so you will be able to charge phones and cameras.
Dining: For each meal the guests chip in - some might cut up the food, others jump on the BBQ, whilst some do the washing up. No job takes a long time. Breakfast was toast or cereal, lunch was wraps and dinner was a BBQ - with Veggie Burgers. On the last night we got a dinner supplied by the owner of the campsite - vegetarians and celiacs were catered for. It was Barramundi followed by Pavlova.
The first two campsites had a bar onsite and then we bought wine at Woolworths before staying at the third site.
Footwear. I wore sandals every day and apart from the red dust getting everywhere I had no problem. On day three we walked to a gorge and the rocks were a little tricky. It was the only time I wished I had footwear with a better grip ,but you can do the trip wholly in good sandals.
Who is on the the tour: As this is "glamping" you'll find the guests family groups, couples and singles. It is not a party tour but you'll find people from all over the world so you meet lots of interesting people. After dinner our group went straight to bed.
I admit I was nervous about a group tour but everyone is not in your face - people are friendly and respect your privacy.
Watch out - There are lots of early starts on the tour !
Fitness - There are walks in the heat so you need to carry lots of water, sometimes the rocks can be a little tricky when crossing a creek or climbing the Kakadu lookout, but good footwear and a reasonable level of fitness should see you through.
The guide. Our guide was Rick - nothing was too much for him - in typical Territorian style he handled any problem with ease - lost phone (found another guide who could pick it up and get it back to Darwin), another lost phone (we went back for it), guests who couldn't find the pickup point - he drove around looking for them, celiac issues - we had rules about double dipping in the butter, saw something interesting, he'd turn the bus around so we could all get a look.
Issues: Maybe a swim too many in the gorges, but I'd be clutching at straws to find anything wrong with this tour. The camping toilets and showers were clean and the water hot .
Overall. There were guests who where looking forward to the Australian landscape, but were equally enthralled with all the aboriginal culture we saw and learnt about.
My highlight - the Katherine Gorge and the talk by the aboriginal man - Manuel. Also the guests on our tour were great company.
I highly recommend this tour and if you go on the tour and the guide introduces himself as Rick - you are in good hands.

On time, stiger en frisk ung pige Chrissie ud af bussen og byder velkommen. Det var kun hendes 2 sæson, men hun havde 1000% styr på alt og oven i købet en god fortæller, driver og god humor og en sød pige. Selve turen er en fantastisk oplevelse, så smuk natur, dyr, sights. Vi overnattede i små 2 persones hytter som var ganske fine. Fælles bad og toiletter, ikke noget problem. Maden var fin, der manglede ikke noget. Kan klart anbefale denne tur.
