Red Decker Hop On, Hop Off Bus Hobart
We have a 48hr pass and have been on the bus a couple of times already. Paul the driver is excellent, he adds lots of information to the recorded commentary and has a good sense of humour. We felt safe with Paul’s driving and he was very friendly and approachable. Thanks Red Decker.

Hobart escape

The bus was comfortable. While it was cold up on the top it was the best vantage point to see all of the sights of Hobart. The driver, Christian, was wonderful. Quite a character and worth a raise.

A brilliant, friendly and fascinating voyage, high above the traffic, great views and architectural details

I love travelling with the Red Decker Co and getting unique views of Hobart. Being local, I travel to the beautiful and ever-changing Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and have found every driver to be uniquely helpful, courteous and very knowledgeable - I always enjoy the ad-libbing! I have seen people from all parts of the world being welcomed and helped on their journey. I would very highly recommend a voyage on these wonderful buses and meeting the very friendly team - a great way to spy architectural details too.

Great way to get a preview of the city and plan the rest of your trip.

Lovely clean bus. Just enough information, to find out a little bit about everything on the tour, with the opportunity to pop off and find out more. We had 2 drivers over our day, both very helpful and friendly, we only caught the name of the last on, Paul. We went at the end of Aug on a Monday and the buses were very quiet. Definitely worth the 24hr tour to find your way around the city.

A top Hobart highlight’s tour!
It was my first time back to Hobart for 24 years and the tour was an excellent way to remind me of some of Hobart’s gems!

A new addition - the Female Factory was a moving interpretation and site of Hobart’s sad but fascinating past. Make sure you have the guided tour - Catherine was wonderful.

John, our bus driver was also very friendly and helpful and added real value to the trip’s commentary.

A good way to explore Hobart CBD & inner city area!

Great way to see Hobart for the first time
I booked to go on the ubiquitous hop-on hop-off tour bus in Hobart. This left from a stop opposite my hotel on Brooke Street pier which was just as well as it was raining and windy. Consequently I did not get off the bus until near the end of the route. That combined with a number of the attractions visited being closed - it was a Tuesday in winter so this could be why the female prison etc were not open. The bus also started later and finished earlier than in summer months. However it also seemed to be the best way (I didn’t have a car) to get to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. The route took about 75 minutes to get there and despite the weather it was interesting and informative.

It drove through a few of Hobart’s suburbs and the commentary pointed out various interesting sites. I am not sure how many languages it is available in as the commentary was broadcast over a speaker rather than utilising the onboard system with headphones. It performs a sort of figure 8 with the starting point also being a stopping point midway and I believe the whole ride lasts about 90 minutes. While several of the attractions the bus travels to were closed, this is not the fault of the bus company and I enjoyed my trip.

I really enjoyed visiting the botanical gardens despite the weather, possibly one of the best things to see when you are actually in Hobart. I liked the tour and would recommend it to any visitors to Hobart.

Informative bus tour
This was the best way to see some of the sights of Hobart. This was a talking tour, so a combination of pre recorded and the bus driver conducting the tour. Very informative.

We enjoyed the tour so much we done it twice in the same day and still seen something different on both trips.

Bus Tour with Platypus Ending

Tony our driver was very friendly and made us chuckle at his jokes! Tony gave us some tips on sighting a platypus on the Hobart Rivulet Walk starting at the Cascade Brewery. We had just about given up before we had a successful sighting!

Hobart Rivulet Park is a 2.7km, grade 2 hike located in the South Hobart, Tasmania. The hike should take around 1.5 hrs to complete

Interesting bus

A great experience to check out Hobart! The bus driver Paul was very accommodating and his extra facts were very interesting!

Down side was this experience was pretty pricy for what you get. $40 to sit in on a bus for 90mins is a bit of stretch! If you are using it as hop on hop off the cost might be worth it b it just for a quick site tour I would not recommend due to the price!
