Cam was an amazing driver full of knowledge. From pick up to drop off he was professional and friendly. The updates from Cheeky Kiwi were amazing - updates on pick up time and clarity - well done Team Cheeky Kiwi. Hobbiton tour was also well worth the visit even if you haven't seen the movie - lovely day out.

An unforgettable adventure! Hobbiton was magical with charm and the smell of flame, flowers, and fellowship. We bonded with some friends along the way and Don our bus driver was phenomenal and made the experience special with a capella songs, tourist information, stops for ice cream, and kindness saying our names and caring about our daughter. She loved playing with the toys 🧸 in the Hobbit house and wanted to eat the food 😁. We enjoyed a meat pie by the fire while drinking a beer and the views were stunning! We saw sheep running along the road and lambs playing on the roaming hills. It was epic and totally worth it!

Had a lovely time. Simon was great - funny , chatty and intelligent. We were picked right on time and dropped at time too. The tour was amazing especially with Hobbit house now open where you can go in and experience hobbit life.

This was a long day trip (2+ hours outside of Auckland) that lasted from 9:40 pick up to ~6:15 drop off. It was a bit longer than I'd anticipated but worth the trip. Malcolm was a great tour guide on our drive there and back. He had a lot of wonderful facts about NZ so it was a very informative trip, not just about LOTR. If I were to do this trip again I would immediately go to the cafe upon arrival at Hobbiton because the hot food takes ~15 to make. By the time I went to the gift shop then the cafe I had limited choices for lunch based on time. I had a meat pie, it was fine. The free ale at the end of the tour was really fun and scenic. All in all, a great day trip but I'd pack snacks and water. Leave anything you don't need to carry on the Cheeky Kiwi bus though, hauling stuff around for two hours on the walking tour gets old! Thanks Malcolm for such a great day.

Our experience was absolutely amazing. Simon was a wonderful guide who brought a lot of fun and laughter to the trip. The small groups and personal attention was a big plus. Simon also dropped us off at our hotel instead of our pick up location, which was wonderful. The Hobbiton tour itself was a dream come true, despite the rain the tour guide was in great spirits and gave us many interesting facts. You could tell she loved working there. Overall, would definitely go again and would gladly book again with Cheeky Kiwi Travel!

I had a fab day with the Cheeky Kiwi Travel tour to Hobbiton from Auckland, there were 5 of us on the tour in total but Grant (our awesome driver) made sure that everyone knew each other.
Grant was an amazing driver and tour guide for the trip to the set and back, he had so much knowledge about the areas we were travelling through, he was full of fun facts and the odd cheesy dad joke!
Would definitely recommend travelling with Cheeky Kiwi (and hopefully Grant!)

We are looking at either today early afternoon or tomorrow early morning.

The tour was only 2 hours long at the movie set if you could drive there and get the ticket yourself. Because I booked this tour with cheeky, we didn’t get pick up around 10am then stopped by other hotel to pick up others. It took around 1-2 hours to get to the movie set from the last pick up. So if you book the tour with cheeky, it will be a whole day. I did some research after I booked this tour that you could actually take a bus early in the morning from central Auckland to the movie set then get out by 3pm to take the bus back. But remember to book your ticket with the hobbiton first because the tickets seemed to sell out quickly. Once you booked the ticket, you could look for transportation. Hope this help!
