Whilst some of the information in this tour could be gained without booking the walking tour, my knowledge of art deco was certainly enhanced and we were taken inside some buildings that I would not otherwise have entered. Likewise, I would have walked past many of the design features without appreciating their link to the 1930's. I was fascinating having a guide who had grown up in the region in the 1950's.

We discovered the fascinating story of Napier’s heritage with the Art Deco trust's walking tour. Our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide gave us an insight into the history of Napier and the characteristics of the Art Deco style of architecture. We would have missed many features without this experience. Highly recommended.

The short film was very informative and our guide was pleasant but the tour lacked depth and seemed centred around looking at the information boards that are readily available for everyone to look at for free! Perhaps better to go in the morning when you can enter the foyers of some of the buildings if you’re very keen, as although many buildings were pointed out I did not see or find out anything of interest other than what I was able to observe walking along Emerson and Tennyson without a guide! I certainly won’t be recommending this tour!

Rnoeally enjoyed the little movie before the walk and the walk. Very enjoyable and informative, knowledgeable guide. The walk didnt go to far so easy as. Worth the $28, especially if you like architecture.

Excellent walk around the Art Deco gems of Napier. Guide , Michelle, was very enthusiastic and full of information. Saw inside the theatre ( a real treat). Definitely recommend!

This is the third time I have done the walking tour. Each time has been slightly different, and I’ve picked up different things. The afternoon tour was run similar to the am tour described rather than longer presumably because the shop is shutting earlier. Would have been good to be told. Even so the walk was interesting and we were shown some of the intricacies of the deco style.

We enjoyed our walking tour with Brockie. There were just 4 of us and the guide. He drew our attention to interesting details we'd have missed had we done a self-guided tour. It was a friendly and casual interaction and it's great to know they're a Trust that works to conserve Napier's architectural history!

Well worth very reasonable cost. They started with an explanation of what Art Deco is and why this style from 2 - 2:30. Then an easy walking tour from 2:30 to 4 which was excellent. We never would have picked up on the details they pointed out. Finally they offered a movie if you wanted to stay for it on the day of the earthquake with complimentary tea/coffee. All volunteer guides who were very knowledgeable. We had limited time off the cruise ship, so this was perfect.

You would need to check with the Art Deco Trust direct. When we were there I think the morning tours were 1.5 hours. Would still be worth doing though.
