Yes I remember this "incident" you reported a few days after the trip asking for a refund, as I asked you to send all relevant information to us so we could report to our Auditors that at that time were Maritime NZ. We had in our Trip sheet sign off that a guide was bounced forward and landed on you (yes this can happen occasionally when a guide needs to use the paddle to avoid things and can not fully anckor themselves). At the time you were OK. When you contacted us for a refund you were asked to see a doctor and send a report so we could report to Maritime NZ. You did not send any doctors report, and to our knowledge there was no report filed by your doctor through ACC which automatically goes through to ourselves and Maritime NZ (it would go through to Worksafe now). Maritime NZ when they were our auditors took these things very seriously and would have visited us, stoped us operating, and investigated if they thought we were neglegent. This did not happen. In conclusion yes the grade 5 is an extreme activity that can have serious consequences and we are required by law to inform you of these consequences before rafting, and you would have signed off that you had been informed and understood the consequences before you entered the raft.
