A really good experience. Very knowledgeable guide and tracker and we saw lots of Taratua and Kaka’s. Cormorants, Weka’s and frogs were great spots and we heard the Morepork calling too. We heard Kiwis, but unfortunately didn’t manage to see any! This was a shame, but not totally unexpected as they are quite hard to find. We had, nonetheless, a thoroughly enjoyable evening and are in awe of the fantastic conservation work being done here. Well done guys on a great project.

We did the guided tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. Prior to setting off on the walk we were shown a film which I think was designed to make us all feel guilty about the behaviour of the human race to be honest. It certainly highlighted the need for conservation and protection of habitat. We actually managed to see a couple of kiwis as well as glow worms and so on. The cupboard full of spiders was not my favourite bit!

I would recommend a this tour. The guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. We started the tour by watching a short film with some background information about New Zealand - very helpful. Again I would highly recommend a tour.

A dusk tour offered the best of Zealandia, with the start of the tour having a plethora of bird song and flying birds catching insects. Lots of tui, piwakawaka, takahe that came close enough to eat your shoelaces. A number of tuatara were sunning themselves. After a hot cuppa provided by Alison and John, the tour guides, we started the night portion of the tour. Kiwi and tuatara were again to be seen, along with glow worms.
Easy walking paths with seats to rest. There are steps to assist those of short stature to see tuatara.

We did the 11am-1.30pm tour, and it was amazing. The track that we took was easy even though I wished it might have been more harder as a challenge. Saw many - TOO many tuatara sunbathing themselves on the side of the tracks, outside their burrows. A couple kaka came swooping down on us one time, and we observed them from below the trees (they weren't too high up). We also saw a lot of tui flying around. Absolutely incredible experience, and I've learned a lot about how Zealandia came about and how it has been improved.
A tip: there is a bus from downtown that takes you to the bottom of Zealandia, where you can walk for a little while and see their building. On the way back, there is a free shuttle that takes you to the top of the Cable Car, where you can either pay an one-way to get down or walk down.

Wasn't sure what to expect from this Twilight Tour, other than being disappointed to learn that we wouldn't see a kiwi. However, I was more than pleasantly surprised: we had a wonderful experience and saw a LOT of other wildlife instead. Our guide Tory was incredibly knowledgeable, with information about all the species we saw and their history in the country and at Zealandia. He was incredibly charming and funny and somehow managed to keep up a steady patter for 3 hours without once repeating himself or getting boring. We seemed to be lucky in seeing what we did (tieke, keraru, sdpatiki, tuatara, kakariki, paupongo, koratara, stick insects, weta and glow worms). I'll definitely go back for a night tour where you have a chance of seeing kiwi, and will also go back during the day as there are miles of walking tracks available. However, I doubt I'll see as much - or know what I'm seeing if I do! - as I did on this tour, which I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Wellington.

I did the Zealandia by night tour with a friend as a 'leaving Wellington' gift and we had the most wonderful time.
Clarisse from the Tours Team was so helpful and positive via email when booking.
Jac was our tour guide, she was a delight! Shared a plethora of knowledge, answered a multitude of questions. The walk was beautiful and we got to see so many birds. We could really feel Jac and Judy's genuine love for Zealandia and the work it does.

Great tour last night with Troy, we saw a kiwi, tuataras, keas, tui, wetas, frogs, spidrts, slugs, bugs and so much more. Even if we hadn't seen a kiwi still would have had an amazing time. Loved hearing about the history of the reserve and efforts of all the volunteers to sustain it fir the future.
