Richard was very knowledgeable and showed us many great sights of Wellington. He explained the forest shots and let us get into character.The Weta Workshop was amazing.

Our guide, Stan, took us to the site where some scenes in the Lord of the Rings were filmed. We trekked through the scenic area where he pointed out exact spots for various scenes, making for an interesting experience. Although we were impressed with the WETA workshop's accomplishments, our visit was somewhat of a disappointment, mainly because of our guide there. She was hard to understand and a bit irritating, so we didn't get as much out of the experience as we had hoped. The only other issue we encountered was waiting over half an hour for a couple from the ship to appear; turned out that they had cancelled the night before but Stan wasn't informed. Perhaps a time limit for customers should be set with the knowledge there won't be a long grace period.

This was an excellent tour with a great guide Richard - very knowledgeable and passionate. Small group size was also a benefit.

Our guide, Lester, led us on an extraordinary tour of LOTR. He was very creative in helping us to memorialize our experience. He took us to actual filming sites and showed us photos of specific scenes where the action was filmed. He was able to enrich our experience by sharing his knowledge of characters and history of logistical hurdles overcome. Lester’s enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge about the making of LOTR enhanced our experience so that we will remember it for many years to come. Not only would we heartily recommend Lester and LOTR experience to anyone else, but we would do it again if given the opportunity.

Great tour, we were visiting on a cruise ship. Easy meeting place where the ship docked. Richard our tour guide was excellent. Visiting the locations & recreating the scenes from the movies was great & Richard took photos of us which makes great memories. WETA tour was excellent the guide was excellent very informative & we learnt a lot. Highly recommend this tour for anybody especially if you love the movies.

Our Guide James was very knowledgeable about the LOTR filming productions as well as others. We visited some interesting sights where some of the first scenes were filled. Also the incredible WETA workshop. We highly recommend this tour to LOTR and Hobbit fans.

The tour guide didn’t turn up at the stated time of 8.15am we waited u tul 8.40 - could t contact him and Viator support said they could t reach him either - SO WE DIDNT GET TO DO THE TOUR SO CABT LEAVE A COMMENT - will be looking to get a refund

We sincerely apologise for your bad experience. Sometimes at port customers are not off the ship in time, which then delays any hotel pickups which follow. Our guide did try to find you when he arrived at your hotel, but you had left. Please apply through Viator for a full refund for your group, and we will approve the request when Viator make contact. Our sincere apologies for your disappointing experience.

Just ok. We spent our time waiting for late arrivals and the tour guide who was lost trying to find a hotel in the morning. We were very rushed and almost missed our Wētā Studio tour because of this. Van driver spent too much time talking about American politics.

As we replied to your previous review of your same tour, we are sorry your tour was so delayed in starting Josh. When other customers are late arriving for pickup it becomes very frustrating for everyone. We followed up with our guide on your tour, as he knows politics is off limits. His recollection is that two of the passengers began the discussion between themselves which quickly became heated. Our apologies your tour was marred by this also.
Interestingly your tour that day has received 5 star reviews from your fellow passengers for our guide.

Wayne did a great job on the tour pointing out details and trivia questions about LOTR! Kiki was our guide at the WETA workshop and was outstanding! She was easy to follow and understand! The mind blowing talent of the artists there have contributed to hundreds of movies!

Me and my partner did the half day lord of the rings tour with the guide Lester. He was very nice and knew a lot about the movies. Hel told us interesting extra information about what happened when they recorded the movies which other lord of the rings tours that we have been to do do not. He also gave us some extra guiding about the maori people which was really interesting. Good time for everything and you have time to walk around in the weta cave and the shop
