Was a very good tour! Eloise (our tour guide) was very informative and funny. It was good to learn about the Indigenous history of the land. Saw a Freshwater Crocodile too. Was nice to be able to have a swim in the water (in the area that crocs can't access).

Fabulous day. Our guide Russell did a great job… so informative and nailed the dad jokes! Our kids loved the swim! Highly recommend this tour.

Did the two gorge tour and even though there isn't a lot of difference, it was good to see both. The two gorges are separated by about 200 meters of flat paths but you can wait for the ride back if you decide not to walk to the 2nd gorge. Keep an eye out for freshwater crocs and maybe even fish. Our guide was a very knowledgeable local.

Spectacular gorge knowledgeable guide and well worth doing the cruise.
We did the 2 gorges cruise as we'd done the 3 gorge cruise a couple of times. The views along the 2 gorges are spectacular and the guide provided interesting commentary about the landscape, wildlife and indigenous and European history.
My one complaint was the fiasco at the dock prior to the cruise. Given its been running for years and run multiple times a day everyday you'd expect they would have some system in place. No signage to instruct people to line up and none to define 2 and 3 gorge cruise lines so that we could board the different boats in an orderly fashion. A manual system of ticking off each passenger from a printed list and only 1 person doing that job for multiple tour buses and individual toursts all departing at the same time!

Russell’s commentary and humour kept us entertained- beautiful views of the gorge- Adams skill cooking on the boat was captivating- meals and presentation was 6 star - the attendants were extremely proficient and accommodating- thanks Dan Max and Silvana - best meal I’ve eaten in years- crocodile and kangaroo and barramundi and rib fillet and the sides were delicious

I’d originally planned to do the dawn cruise, but there wasn’t availability on my date, so I booked the dinner cruise the evening before. Serendipitous choice.
The cruise itself was extremely enjoyable - I’d been wanting to visit the gorge for many years and the cruise, and commentary from our guide, were both excellent.
What was a surprise however was the quality of the dinner - outstanding, cooked on board, in a pretty small kitchen. One of the best meals I had in Australia (and there were a lot of really good meals - so strong competition). I had the barramundi - which was delicious - the best barramundi I’ve ever had.

This review relate purely to the actual cruise, not the arrangements for the tour which were made by The Ghan.
This is a beautiful gorge, with amazing coloured rock walls, deep waters, ancient paintings and good guiding.
The main issue was the pace of the tour which was a result of the sheer number of people off The Ghan who all wanted this tour. Because we were the last group on to a boat our tour time was significantly reduced resulting in a very rushed trip up the first gorge, a quick stroll (run) to the second, a fast and short trip on the second gorge and a 'please hurry up' trip back down. As a result we were unable to view the rock art and were bustled back to our bus to get back to the train.
So, the learning here is, don't schedule your visit when The Ghan is in town! Pace yourself and make sure you get to see the rock art which is the highlight.

Great cruise of the 2 gorges which included a cruise back aboard the dinner cruise boat with a 3 course dinner and complimentary glass of sparkling wine . Stunning sunsets and lights on the gorge as the sun was setting.

We don't have a car how do we get to Katherine Gorge Boat Cruise from CBC Katherine.

Ring the tourist imformation centre in katherine. They are very helpful. We went there whilst in Katherine. Or maybe a hire a car for the day.

We did the two gorge tour (Nit Nit Dreaming) and they run several times a day, the timing depends on the season. I copied this from their website:

Is it a difficult walk back uphill from the gorge

Hi it not a difficult walk, there is a track from the visitors centre you can walk down in 5 minutes and slight incline uphill on return. I would also suggest good walking shoes because when the water level in the gorge is low you have to change boats due to rocks blocking the river. These rocks are naturally slippery.
Take good supply of water in hotter months temperatures were 40 degrees in October last year.
How long and hard is the uphill walk from the gorge to the bus

Hi, from the visitors centre it is a 5 minute walk downhill on a maintained dirt track with incline on return. recommend good walking shoes with good grip as you may need to change boats when low water level in gorge and rocks are slippery. Take water bottles with you as temperatures can get hot and you are able to refill on vessel.
Where can we find the Boat Jetty (to make sure we arrive in time)? At the end of Giles st --> Gorge Rd. 30K and takes 30 minutes from Katherine centre?
