Great way to see the beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound. Friendly service. Ian our Captain was awesome. Morning cruise time was great for us and nobody else seemed to offer

An enjoyable afternoon. Be prepared and take warm clothes and a jacket in case the weather turns and you want to stay seated on upper deck. There is coffee on board and you can purchase a reusable cup for just a few $ and it’s a great keepsake. It was fun to see the kids and locals (and their dogs) at each stop, keen to meet the boat and exchange mail.
The commentary from the pilot was interesting as he was native to this area and knew a little of the history. Take some snacks and you’ll have a great trip!

Hi LeepyLisa, thank you for your review and for your tips for other passengers - its certainly a good idea to take an extra layer in case of weather changes and also always pack snacks! Great to hear you had a good time on the Mailboat with our skipper.

We booked an excursion. Showed up about 15 minutes early only to find the excursion had been rescheduled and Beachcomber Cruises had failed to notify the company we booked it through. We were an hour late.
Beachcomber Cruises acknowledged their error, offered us the option of a private excursion. And charged us the difference between what we paid for the excursion their mistake caused us to miss and the private excursion.
The excursion was a good one, we enjoyed it, but, since this was Beachcomber Cruises mistake, we should NOT have had to pay extra.
Needless to say, we'll never book another excursion with Beachcomber Cruises.
Beachcomber Cruises acknowledged their error, offered us the option of a private excursion. And charged us the difference between what we paid for the excursion their mistake caused us to miss and the private excursion.
The excursion was a good one, we enjoyed it, but, since this was Beachcomber Cruises mistake, we should NOT have had to pay extra.

Hi Byrdwrites, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience with us, we do take full responsibility for the time of the tour change and acknowledge that we did not notify your travel agent of this, our team apologized profusely in person for this error. From what i understand we settled this matter in office on the day so I'm disappointed to see you felt the need to write a review for us. You were under no obligation to purchase an additional tour with us and were offered a full refund or the choice to upgrade to a private tour as we had nothing equivalent to offer you. I don't believe our team were at fault here for offering you these options which you then willingly took after taking some time for considerations. From what I understand you thoroughly enjoyed the private tour with our skipper and I hope you did get the chance to see some enjoyable sightseeing in the Queen Charlotte Sound.

Despite the weather being a bit overcast, we had a very enjoyable trip and the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw dusky and common dolphins and learnt a lot about the Queen Charlotte Sound.

Great trip had good weather great photos. Mailboat is modern and comfortable family firm. They look after you well. A must do if you are in Picton

This was a fun and interesting way to spend an afternoon in the beautiful waterway Queen Charlotte Sound. The weather was perfect and that enabled us to enjoy the fresh air along with the gorgeous scenery. The skipper's commentary was interesting and informative. He had spent his entire working life on the water here and his skill in manouvering the boat into a position to drop and pick up mail bags was impressive.

Was a very wet afternoon but our trip was amaising. We saw dolphin's, dropped off mail & groceries to several stops along the way. Had great commentary along the way, then the sun returned on our way back to Picton. Was really worth while doing this trip.

We had such a fantastic day! It was pouring rain, we were only able to do part of the mail run due to a technical issue with the boat! Skipper Dillan took us to a cafe/restaurant! There was an awesome Blues singer/pool table and beer! What more do you need when things don't go to plan!
We got to see dolphins and 2 dogs meet the boat to collect mail!
They sent another boat to pick us up with a new skipper Greg!
Highly recommend this company!
Both skippers were entertaining and kept us informed!

Im sorry to hear that we had some difficulty with the boat - breakdowns are rare for us but we recon our team did a great job at keeping everyone safe and entertained while the replacement boat was dispatched. Greg our captain gave a great commentary of the sounds as he delivered supplies and mail all the way to Furneaux lodge and back, we saw lots of dolphins, seals and blue penguins as well as the lovely landscape. A very interesting trip, well worth doing and enjoyed by ourselves and friends that we travelled with

Hi
The cruise is run by Beachcomber cruises and the number is +6435736175. They have an email if you check their website but Trip Advisor doesn't let me include links. They also seem to be on Facebook and Instagram. There's no indication on their website that they're not operating the office and I would think the service is running even without passengers as it's the only food and mail lifeline for some of the people out in the Sound.
