The entire experience was remarkable. Dré Quarles is an exceptional guide with an encyclopedic knowledge of African American history (and world history as a whole). He has an uncanny ability to weave it all together, respond to questions with a detailed historical context, and to transmit his passion for the material. Despite the heaviness of much of the subject matter, he even displayed a subtle sense of humor that said all that was needed when relating the glaring ironies throughout Black history. We learned so much today and, had we simply visited all the sites on our own, the trip would never have been as meaningful. Thank you!

Seeing the African American History Museum in Washington, DC, is a profoundly touching and impactful event, particularly for black families. It is a priceless tool for rediscovering our roots and comprehending the significant influence of African Americans on American history. I can't recommend this tour enough! Expert guide Dré has a deep knowledge of history and DC information. The entire tour culminating with the National Museum of African American History and Culture was such an emotional and moving learning experience. Loved the intimate, small bus format. Wish I could give it a thousand stars instead of just 5!

GREAT tour!
Dre’ was AMAZINGLY informative. His memory is CRAZY. This young man is very passionate about what he does. It was refreshingly nice to hear the parts of history that some attempt to erase. We learned so much on this tour. Definitely a MUST-DO. You won’t regret it.

This museum is great to take you from pre slavery to current times. There are extensive exhibits that take a huge amount of time to read and or listen too. You can really only take about 3 hours of standing and reading plus the overwhelming info in one day. I was only able to walk through the history galleries and wish I had a lot more time. I was not aware of any guided tour and I stopped by the info desk when I entered the museum. Plan to go early and plan on maybe having lunch in the museum and then continuing on after lunch.

Why wasn't we told that the Frederick Douglas House was closed and the
Washington Monument elevator was not working, also that our tour would end an hour early

Is there parking included at the departure point?

No. When I took the tour the meeting place was at a monument in a city square near a metro station. My friend and I walked there from our hotel.
