A perfect day trip from Guatemala City to experience Antigua.

We wanted to feedback about our recent tour in Antigua Guatemala on Saturday April 27, 2024, half day - private tour.
This was a time sensitive tour as we had to return to our cruise ship, SilverSea (Silver Nova) by 4pm.
As seasoned travelers who value professional guided tours, this experience was uniquely disappointing and we believe specific instances from our tour will illustrate why improvements are necessary.
Ignoring Client Preferences:
We had specific ideas about where we wanted to eat and what we wanted to see, but our guide dismissed these requests. Despite multiple attempts to direct him to our chosen shopping destinations, he insisted on taking us to another location, which then forced us to walk to our desired shopping destination.
Obtrusive Behavior:
At each site, he positioned himself in front of us, blocking views while pointing out mundane objects without providing any historical context or educational value. His commentary was often repetitive, pointing out the obvious, such as "look, this building is very old, very old", which did not enhance our understanding of the locations visited.
Lack of Privacy:
The guide's presence was overbearing. For instance, in the restaurant at the Porta Hotel, he chose to sit continuously within our view, observing us as we ate, which was highly uncomfortable. His subsequent behavior was equally unprofessional; he took tourist-like photos in the lobby, which delayed us further as he lost track of where he had parked the car.
Disregard for Time Management:
After the meal, when it was clear we were pressed for time, the guide was unable to locate the car promptly, insisting it was "just around the corner." This led us to decide to walk to our next destination out of necessity, not preference—a choice he seemed to misunderstand as a casual decision rather than a frustration-driven necessity.
These specific examples reflect a broader issue of professionalism and sensitivity to our needs, which were not met during our tour. The guide’s knowledge was inadequate, in addition his delivery and conduct were neither professional nor considerate.
Furthermore, we would like to reiterate our appreciation for the driver, who was both polite and efficient, contrasting sharply with our experience of the guide.
We have attached a photo of the guide for your reference, as we do not recall his name. We trust that you will address these issues promptly to prevent future clients from having similar experiences.

First and foremost, we want to thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback regarding the private tour in Antigua Guatemala conducted last Saturday, April 27, 2024. We deeply regret that the experience did not meet your expectations, and we greatly value the opportunity to address each of the points mentioned.
Firstly, it is important to highlight that our guide assigned to your tour was Rubén, who has been selected on multiple occasions to lead our tours due to his historical and cultural knowledge, as well as having received five-star ratings for his service in the past. However, we understand that on this occasion, the experience did not live up to what was expected, and for this, we offer our sincerest apologies.
Regarding client preferences, it is the policy of our company to try to adjust as much as possible to the desires and needs expressed by our clients, guiding them to places that offer quality service, both in terms of food and souvenir shopping. We regret that there was confusion and that your expectations were not met in this aspect.
As for the behavior described during the tour, we understand that Rubén's conduct, described as obtrusive and unprofessional, is not representative of the standards we promote. The photographs taken by our guides during the tours are primarily to report on the progress and ensure that everything is carried out correctly, but clearly, this should not interfere with the experience or privacy of our clients.
We take time management very seriously, especially in situations where our clients have clear time constraints, as was your case due to the return to your cruise ship. It is evident that on this occasion, organization and promptness were not handled adequately, and for this, we offer our apologies.
We are committed to continuously improving the quality of our services and your feedback is essential for us. Please rest assured that we are taking corrective measures to ensure that situations like this do not recur in the future.
We appreciate that you highlighted the efficiency and politeness of our driver, and this contrast will be part of our evaluation for improvement.

¡Hola! Nos encanta saber que pasaste un buen rato en tu tour de medio día por Antigua Guatemala. Sin duda es un lugar espectacular y disfrutar de el al lado de un guía experimentado es la mejor idea para poder conocer los lugares de mayor interés y la historia detrás de cada uno de ellos.

Hello Ricky! We are so glad to know that you had a great time in Antigua. This half-day tour is an excellent option for those explorers with a time budget who still want to enjoy the city to the fullest. Going with an expert tour guide is always an excellent idea so you get to know all the must-visit places and still have time to wander around for some time.
Whenever you come back in the future, contact us so we can make your experience in Guatemala as pleasant as possible and take care of all you need, from transportation, accommodation, tours, etc.

I had a terrific tour of Antigua with Ruben! As a female solo traveler, I did a lot of research to find tours in and around Guatemala city that would be safe and accommodating. Ruben is very extremely and passionate about his job. He loves sharing Guatemala with travelers. I had an amazing time exploring the beauty of Antigua!

Hello Hollie! I hope you´re doing great. I appreciate the message you left on this review. As a woman, I understand that is not very easy all the time to solo travel. We have to be very careful and make sure we will be safe at all times. Finding a good service where you feel comfortable and safe is important and a priority.
I am so happy that you had a good time visiting Antigua Guatemala and getting to know its history. It is definitely a beautiful city and a must on any itinerary when visiting Guatemala for the first time.

Pasmos un medio día increíble en Antigua con la familia. Visitamos los sitios más emblemáticos los niños, mis papás y yo disfrutamos de las explicaciones de nuestro guía Carlos.
Algo que nos fascinó es que nos suministraron a todos alcohol en gel para tener durante todo el walkingTour. El piloto fue profesional y en todo momento cumplió con los protocolos de Bio-seguridad.
Los recomiendo muchísimo , 100 puntos 👍🏼
