David, our tour guide, was great. He was very knowledgable about the area and gave us some recommendations while driving us through the beautiful mountains in route to the hot springs. The sights are amazing, mini-geysers, vegetable plantations showing up next to the road, the closeby river and its waterfall, the hot springs themselves, everything was top-notch. Beware that the weather is very cold, so you should be very careful when exiting the hot springs to avoid catching a cold.

We had a car just for ourselves, and were all alone in the springs on a Monday morning : so nice !
The driver took us at 9am at our hotel and we arrived at 9.40, and he took us back a 1pm so we had all time to try all the pools and eat :)

Monte Verde Tours should be your go-to tour company for hiking adventures in Quetzaltenango (Xela). The owner, Josh, is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He helped us organise quite a few hiking tours, including the Volcan Santa Maria trek, Chicabal Lake trek, Volcan Santo Tomas / Fuentes Georginas trek and the Xela to Lake Atitlan 3 Day hike, and we loved all of them.
He also helped organise a shuttle service for us from Lanquin to Xela, which isn't a typical route; but, he made it happen 🙂 The guides from Monte Verde Tours, specifically Rudi and Feliz, were fantastic! We can't recommend Monte Verde Tours enough.

Always, in my experience, a first rate family outfit. US / Guatemalan couple. Over the years I’ve used the company many times. Transport only, bespoke tours, Nebaj to Todos Santos multi-day trek and many more. On this occasion I arranged transport only for the Santa Maria volcano ascent and an overnight camping trip. The overnight camping trip followed the Siete Cruces route to Volcan Zunil. Then the next day to Volcan Santo Tomas and then ending at Fuentes Georginas in the thermal pools. Everything was spot on. The guide Rudy was excellent and cooked up some tasty food. I’m sure there are several good tour agencies but I really do recommend this family run outfit.
