DO NOT BOOK if you actually want to fly. These guys are a joke. We booked 2 seats back in August on a confirmed flight. 4pm the day before we were supposed to fly, they cancelled us because apparently 2 people cancelled last minute meaning that the flight became “unconfirmed”. Isn’t this the reason why no refunds are offered last minute? They should have honoured the flight. We got rebooked 3 days later on an unconfirmed flight…the morning of the day before we were told that this flight wasn’t going to go ahead because no one else booked on….we got rebooked on a later flight that same day on a confirmed flight. The evening before the flight we get told that we got bounced off the flight because the other passengers are too heavy and wouldn’t match up with our normal weights to operate the flight. I understand flight security but they should have figured this out way before.
We ended up cancelling and took our business elsewhere. Do no fly with these jokers…very unprofessional.

Having the front two seats really adds to the experience. It's all glass and you can view everything. If the pilot blocks the view, just wait a few minutes as he turns the helicopter so you have a direct view.. he seemed to circle until you were finished with your photos. Some of the valley walls were so close you thought you could touch the trees. Beautiful views as we searched for whales along the coast for the return to the helipad. Staff was friendly and kind. Truly enjoyed everything moment of this tour. Look forward to going again.

We loved our experience with Sunshine Helicopters! It was our first time in a helicopter and we had an awesome time! The views were just stunning! Your trip takes you right into beautiful canyons, where you see gorgeous waterfalls and steep cliffs right along the ocean. John was an amazing pilot as well as a tour guide, telling us so many interesting things about what we were seeing! We would definitely recommend this for everyone -- it is a do not miss experience!!

We had an excellent experience with Sunshine Helicopters. Our original trip was supposed to cover both the northern half and Volcano's National Park but a front moved in and socked in the National Park half. Having driven in from there, I completed understood. So they switched our group to the Waterfalls flight. A completely enjoyable experience. We were able to take lots of pictures and the video available for purchase was very reasonable. John, our pilot, took us right up to the waterfalls. We will book them again the next time we visit the Big Island.

Wow! Great trip with a calming and knowledgeable pilot. Do this at the beginning of your visit so you know what to go back and visit by car.

Our pilot, John, was great. The flight was very smooth and super informative. We missed the lava flow but saw lots of steam vents. He answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable. I highly recommend.

Great trip. We were a large group and so had two separate trips. Everyone agreed our pilot Maria was fantastic (great narration during the entire journey; both knowledgeable and willing to answer questions vs just rejurgitave a script). One of the two trips was not able to see the volcano because the clouds came in so the company gave us a partial refund. Highly recommend.

We took this amazing bucket list trip in the morning. We had totally amazing views that we’ve never been able to see before. I’d suggest take the earliest flight possible so there are fewer clouds. If you go later later in the day you may not see the cauldron. I have an extreme fear of heights and the pilot and others made me feel very comfortable. My family was surprised. Definitely a must do!!

no, it's quite comfortable and you might need to bring a jacket as the AC works very well in the Helicopter.
