This is a MUST DO! The eruption of 2018 is something to behold on Scott's channel. He lived it and documented it for us there, but to be able to drive across a channel the span of a 4-lane highway where lava was flowing (at over 20mph at one point) was spectacular! During the tour I realized I was saying "Wow!" a lot as Scott described the transformation of the area that only a resident that lived it can. By the end of the tour I found a new appreciation and respect for Kilaeua's power and resiliency of the people who live there. Mahalo Scott!!!

My wife & I wanted to tour the 2018 Kilauea eruption area with a guide without having to start a 6-hour tour in Hilo that included other stops that didn't interest us. Scott's Apau Hawaii Tours filled this need. You're basically buying his time and truck (seating for up to four guests) at a flat rate. He'll take you where you want to go with a descriptive narrative to go with it. He lived through this eruption. Before our tour, I did send Scott a request that he replied negatively to. However, out of the blue during our tour, he said "I don't normally do this," and proceeded to take us to exactly what I requested and that was the highlight of our day. I guess my advice is to go ahead and ask for whatever you want to do and see and you might just get it. Scott's lava lot has a route mapped out where he tells you about all of it as you go through it. If you can't do the three hour tour, the one hour at his lava lot is worth doing. And, he encouraged us to take some lava rocks as souvenirs. Since doing that is prohibited at HVNP, this too was a special treat. He also has complimentary water for his guests and provides hiking sticks. He was in no hurry to finish the tour, even as we exceeded three hours. Highly recommended.

If I could give Scott 10 stars I would! We visited the lava lot, it was AMAZING! Have followed Scott through the fissure 8 eruption, so it was incredible to see all of the lava up close and personal. We got to see the "lava river", Pele's hair, and lava that is indescribably beautiful. The colors, the layers, it was the BEST tour I have ever been on! Scott is extremely knowledgeable about everything volcano, no questions he couldn't answer!

Scott is a fantastic guide, knowledgeable and warm. I thoroughly enjoyed the Kilauea eruption tour and highly recommend this to anyone wanting to see the Volcano’s eruption power firsthand! Hawaii at its best. Worth every penny!!

After following Scott's remarkable documentation of the 2018 Kilauea eruption on You Tube, I was blessed to be able to actually get to meet him and go on one of his tours along with 2 of my closest friends. Scott picked us up at the Hilo airport in his immaculate truck, and proceeded to thrill us for over 5 hours. The highlight of course was being able to climb to the top of Fissure #8. You can tell that Scott loves everything about nature, and specifically Hawaii. As many times as he has walked out on that lava field, he is still like a kid in a candy store...pointing out amazing colors and features as we walked. I can tell this will never get old for him. If you plan on being in Hawaii, you CANNOT GO WRONG by booking a tour with Scott. You will see things you will remember for the rest of your life.

My wife and daughter and I set aside a day during our Oahu vacation to tour with Scott. I felt like Scott might be a good tour guide after following him for many weeks on YouTube during the eruption. After spending time with him in person on our tour, I feel he may be one of the greatest ambassadors the big island has at this time. He seems to have love and knowledge of the island and great respect for the local culture.
Scott was very inclusive during the tour to my whole family even though my wife was limited due to physical disability and my daughter has some learning challenges.
I believe whichever tour you purchase with this company will be a high quality tour. Thanks Scott.

Scott is a great tour guide! He is also a really nice guy. He lived in Lelani Estates during the 2018 eruption (& still does). We learned a lot about the Big Island and the eruption. He personalized our tour for what we wanted to see and the time we had available. I also wanted to find a local tour guide instead of a big company. Apau Hawaii Tours was everything we wanted, we learned a lot, and I highly recommend the tour.

We met up with Scott in the morning, knowing little of what we were about to see. His private lot gives you everything and more from a tour perspective, with one of the best things being... no other people around.
You get to explore the land together coming across new and different findings.
What an awesome guy also, no pressure on time if you want to stop for pictures etc and you can genuinely feel his excitement almost as if he also can’t believe what he’s seeing.
I just had to leave some pictures for people to see a little taster.
10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PARTICULAR TOUR! There is no other area like this that you can get to that’s open to the public! There’s some nice little surprises thrown in...
