Awesome job by Jonah on instructing me. Really enjoyable for first time learner and was able to catch some waves and ride them standing up on the board despite this being my first lesson! Great pointers given and good convo as well.

Highly recommend! Fantastic surf lesson and Jonah is the best! I had tons of fun, got to see a gorgeous part of Kona and learned more about surfing. I felt more confident on the board by the time I paddled out of the water. If you're looking for a kind, patient, fun-loving surf instructor and an organized, professional surf company, Kona Town is the place to go. It also doesn't hurt that you're surf lesson is at gorgeous Kahalu'u :)

Learned to surf with Jonah ! (Who can I just say was the Bee's Knees!!)
here is my glowing review because Jona was phenomenal!!!! learning a new hobbie/skill is always a little anxiety inducing or creates worry of failure but Jonah was such a good instructor, I was catching waves almost immediately ! Granted they weren't pretty and far from perfect but he instilled the groundwork and fundamentals and made it so fun! Great teacher, personable & good social skills!! Will def be trying to improve my skills because of him!

My 17-year old had a great first-time lesson with instructor Zion. He did a great job and my son had a blast. The staff was very friendly and professional. I recommend them for sure! Thanks again for a fun experience!

Our 12 and 14 year olds had a FABULOUS first surf experience with this company! Hanz was a great instructor. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the semi-private lesson for first time surfers. Such a wonderful, memorable morning!

Definitely a 5 star experience. Everyone on the staff was very friendly. My instructor, Kingston, gave me valuable advice. He taught me a two step beginner pop up technique using your knees (frowned on for advanced surfers) which increased my ability to stand up and ride a wave which I was able to do 50% of the time.

Not worth the money. If you want to learn to surf, watch some YouTube videos, rent a board (more on that later) for a day ($50ish dollars) and get out on the same waves where the lessons are taking place. When it comes to surfing, it's not timing the waves, but time on the waves, so you won't learn squat in a 2 hour private lesson, but if you get out there on your own for 6-8 hours, you'll be good.
I was contacted 12 hours before my lesson to tell me that I had to rebook because the surf was too rough. They suggested Saturday and I asked, "Won't it be busier on Saturday vs. a weekday?" and was told that all days are the same, so I showed up on Saturday to find the beach packed with would-be surfers all trying to catch the same waves which made it nearly impossible. My 2 hour private lesson was a little over 90 minutes. And because there were surfers everywhere, I got maybe 8 attempts in 90 minutes. I emailed the next day to inquire about renting a board. They replied that it was $20 for 2 hours or $50 for the day, so I headed down to the beach the next day only to be told it was $30 for 2 hours. Probably a shakedown, but I paid the $30 and did so much better on my own.
