The information in the tour was wonderful. I found that the map ( directions) were not linked with the audio narration. The narration often said turn here at the last second with no warning. There were no names of streets given when to make the turn and often times we missed turns and could not make a u turn because the roads were too narrow. Some of the locations that the narrator spoke about were not correctly names or maybe they were recently up dated. we wasted a lot of time going out of our way and did not get to finish the tours.

We did all four of the Shaka Kauai driving tours. A great value overall. We did not stop at every destination, either due to weather, time limitations, or glitches in tour content. A couple of comments:
- Shaka needs to have someone drive these tours occasionally, perhaps annually. Some things were out of date - closed destinations, road changes, etc. A couple of the destinations no longer exist. (Poipu tour - heiau no longer accessible, Moir gardens not accessible or nonexistent, Kaneiolouma cultural complex no longer as described).
- By and large the turning directions were fine, but on a few occasions a turn was indicated as we passed the intersection (or even after), or traffic lane restrictions prevented a turn at the time indicated. Again, Shaka should review these tours periodically.

Worth the money. Especially the section on Waimea Canyon. A bit cheesy. Gives you some Hawaiian lore. Pretty easy to use.

This is the best way to do a self guided tour of the island. The geo-location is awesome. Picked up where you left off just like a tour guide, with no rushing. See something you like? Explore as long as you want. Seemed to be pretty up to date as it was pointing out local spots to eat, get snacks, etc. Narrator is funny and well versed in the history (okay, maybe one too many coconut jokes).
One complaint would be sometimes a story would start, but you skipped that point of interest to move on to the next for time or whatever and the story would just stop and then pick up at a new spot where you are based on location. We didn’t see a way to go back manually and get the rest. This would be a nice feature. Even a feature that would let you just listen to the tour without actually moving. I think there was more that we could have enjoyed as our own schedule became an issue.
Only other complaint is that this is only good for 4 days and we were not able to do all of the tours, so when we come back we will have to buy them again.
All in all a great investment.

Way cool! Enjoyed listening to the narrator, hilariously funny!! Very informative of the culture and history. Took us to places would hav snot known of if we hadn’t taken the audio tour!! Highly recommend. Aloha!

Cheesy and occasionally politically incorrect, but the tours do an efficient job of guiding you through and around all of the interesting points on the island. Historical background info is a plus. Overall, a good purchase.

I'm a islander native who transplanted to the states years ago. Decided on a solo trip "home" for relaxation. So happy to have stumbled on the Shaka Guide for Kauai. I splurged on the bundle and it did not disappoint. I loved the "secret" hikes, beaches, turn by turn descriptions, lovely music, and corny jokes.
Sometimes the guy wen talk "pidgin", not shua da tourist would undastand, but I got it. Good job, bruddah!
I didn't make it all the way up Waimea Canyon to the Kokee Lodge because there was a down tree from the overnight storm. NOT the fault of the Shaka Guide. Was "mother nature".
Like others wrote, I had to make a handful of U-turns because it didn't tell me until I was just past the turn.
Take note that some places on the North Shore tour require advance reservations Kilauea Wildlife Refuge, Hanalei Wildlife Refuge, Okolehao Trailhead, etc. Do your homework. I heard the hikes are beautiful there but didn't get to visit because I didn't have advance reservations. Didn't have to have reservations when I lived here as a kid, but now they want to Mālama ʻāina
I would NOT recommend the Menehune Ditch and suspension bridge at ALL. Kinda sketchy. Tour takes you through a neighborhood. After you cross the bridge, there are warning signs "Stay out" along with abandoned cars, shack, etc. Kinda scary!
Bring hiking shoes, swim wear, and change of clothes!

No, the app stays.. It didn’t expire as I downloaded it almost a month prior to first use and opened it to see what it was all about and how it worked. It’s just a 4 day tour.
I’m unsure if you can download it to multiple devices if they aren’t on the same account though. Technically, these are two separate devices.

Should work with any rental car. If equipped with bluetooth, you can listen through the car's stereo by syncing with your cell phone. If not just listen with you cell on speaker. I highly recommend keeping your phone plugged into a charger at all times.
The app is limited to roads only. but it will take you almost any place of interest and more. Also many cultural and historical places that are not your typical tourist plans.

Yes, after your online purchase, just download using wifi before you go on your trip.
There is a full day tour that takes you up and through Wiamea canyon and another one that goes around the east side of the island beginning in Hanalei.
The app will trigger when you reach one of the pre-programmed GPS waypoints.
