The driver Gabriel was great , But the stop at the candy stop was a waste of time. More time at the volcano stop would have given us time to go to Nahuku - Thurston Lava Tube. Very disappointing to go to a shop with candy & coffee instead

Trip was very good, Dexter, the driver, was excellent. His commentry was informative and he passed on a great deal of information, that made the trip even better. He was very helpful by volunteering to take photos of the features with the clients in the foreground.

Dexter was an amazing tour guide. The crater, lava fields and lava tube is a spectacular site to see, walk on/through and experience. The waterfalls are breathtaking! Provided lunch was not the typical dry sandwich. Instead, Dexter provided the group with fresh chicken wraps, Hawaiian chips and cookie and water. The only downfall to this tour is the black sand beach in Hilo was disappointing as it was not as beautiful as i had heard they were. However, we were informed to see the beautiful black sand beaches you have to drive over to Kona. Definitely recommend taking this tour.

Went on the NCL Best Of Hilo tour with Gabe. It was super cool, fun, and informative! We went to akaka falls, rainbow falls, a candy store, a zoo, and a macnut farm. We had such a great time!

It was a memorable trip. The vehicle for tour was very comfortable.
Tour guide Dexter was amazing. He kept us entertained with his stories of the island and knowledge about the culture, flora and fauna of the island.
His skills in keeping tourist, coming from varied cultures, engaged are amazing.
He exercised extraordinary humility in his demeanour.
He took care of all small and ordinary needs of each member of the group.
Big island itself is amazing with its picturesque views, rain forest thick vegetation, volcanic craters seeming ready to erupt.

Albert was our tour guide for NCL Volcano National Park. His knowledge was superior and he kept us all entertained with his stories end educational information. We really enjoyed the trip! Albert was awesome!

I was planning to book this trip but I want to know the situation right now on the island.

The volcano park is currently closed and even if the current volcanic eruption calms down today it probably won't reopen until some time next year (2019) due to infrastructure (roads, paths, buildings, etc) damage in the area. As far as I'm aware no tours can currently get near the area unless they offer a helicopter, or possibly boat, trip to the area...

I am visiting in mid-June and would like to do this trip. With the current high level of volcanic activity on the island is it likely that this trip will be running then?

Almost certainly the trips will still be running. The big island is expansive and many options to view volcano without being too close or in danger. Some eruptions have been ongoing for years.

I'd like to know if this trip will occurs the next days. I ask because of those eruptions last week and I'm afraid to buy and do not be allowed to visit or get close to volcano.

It seems that there are two day trips with Gray Line-Polynesian Adventure Tours from Oahu to the Big Island. What are the major differences between the two versions? Is either recommended over the other?
