My surf lesson with Ohana Surf Project was the highlight of my Hawaii trip! My instructor, Miguel, was phenomenal - they made it really easy to learn and have fun!! I initially scheduled a 1hr private lesson, but it was such a blast that I extended it for a second hr. You will not regret learning to surf with this company.

Let’s start with I’m 50 and 270+ pounds never touched a surfboard in my life. I can swim but it’s probably been 2 decades since I have swam more than 10 feet . So I didn’t really know what to expect. It does take a little while to get your photos 24 hours or so, and I don’t have them yet to post on this review. With that said. Everyone was awesome, and really tried to make your experience exceptional. I really found everything to be quite easy and will be doing it again. I can’t rate this high enough, just sign up they will take care of the rest.

Every single aspect of this was well organized: pick-up at our hotel, equipment fitting, safety briefing, transportation to the beach, the actual surfing lessons, and then the transport back to our hotel.
The surfing was SO much fun. I was assigned to Miguel and my partner was assigned to Alanna. They both took excellent care of us from start to finish (Miguel was great at "towing" me so that I didn't get too tired paddling back out after each wave) and we got some awesome rides in. I also really appreciated that the other instructors in the water would offer occasional tips since they could see us from angles that Miguel and Alanna could not. We highly recommend this experience, and we highly recommend Miguel and Alanna in particular. Thank you for an awesome time!

This was such an amazing experience! I had never surfed before and was very nervous about my abilities. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I did the 1 on 1 private lesson. We do go out in a group setting but work privately. I was matched with Elle. She was awesome and really understood my strengths and weaknesses from the get go. She supported me and got me standing on my board and riding waves in no time. I felt like it was a judgement free zone and I received soo many tips on how to improve myself. I got to have my dreams come true as a surfer. Also the photos and videos they take of you, amazing. Truly a 10/10 recommended experience.

Great experience from booking to surfing! The folks at Ohana were so responsive and helpful while I was booking. Nai my instructor was so awesome, he really wanted me to succeed! I got up the first and every time …. It was the best day!! All the staff were helpful, pics were great. I recommend this group hands down!!!

Ohana Surf Project was a great experience! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I stood up and rode a wave on my first try! The staff provided shoes, a shirt, and the surfboard. It was a lot of fun and I will definitely use them again to do another lesson! They also take great pictures and videos of you riding waves!!

I cannot say enough about the Ohana Surf Project. My 9 year old took lessons with Ariel and had the time of his life. Registering was easy and the company is super accessible via phone for any questions you may have ahead of time. They sent a confirmation text the day before and called to let us know when they were leaving to pick us up from the shuttle stop.
They provide all the gear as promised and even had additional sizes on site when we needed them.
I researched about 5 schools through TripAdvisor and was worried that other schools wouldn’t truly have private lessons and about the actual location of the beach. Well, Ohana Surf Project was the perfect choice. He had a one-on-one lesson that went the full two hours. From the shore, we counted at least 15 waves my son was able to catch. He even caught a wave on his first try.
Please make sure to buy the photo and video package. They are worth it! The beautiful water and Diamondhead as a backdrop are memories I’m so glad I can keep.

This surf lesson was so fun. The instructor tailored my experience to my comfort and skill level. He gave me great pointers and things to focus on while surfing. He was super funny and chill. They were great about taking pictures and videos and I highly recommend purchasing them before your lesson because I felt they were extra motivated to get footage of me. My instructor balanced wanting me to learn and be independent and assisting me with getting up and going. I was not always going to do a surf lesson and I am so glad I did one with Ohana Surf Project.

The instructors were awesome! I had never surfed before and I'm a big guy, so I went in believing I would very likely not be able to stand up. However, with their instruction, I was wrong and they had me standing up and riding waves consistently within the first few tries. Unbelievable! Highly recommend!

Tim was an incredible instructor and so helpful! I felt so much more comfortable in the surf as someone who’s struggling to start going out on my own, with his guidance I feel I’m ready to start riding waves on my own! Thank you Ohana!
