I loved this adventure from start to finish. Noura and Floran are truly lovely and welcoming people. Their ranch is beautiful and you can tell how much effort they put into it all. The program (8 day riding program) is very thought through and shows Morocco from a very authentic and natural side. Every day is different from the other and offers varied landscapes from beach over sand dunes, and forests to mountains. It even includes a traditional hammam, massage and souk visit in Agadir. I didn’t know at all what I should expect beforehand but I can tell you to just lay back, all is very well organized and every day a new highlight. The people you meet along the way are so unbelievably kind and welcoming. The horses are in excellent shape, very well taken care of, calm and powerful and beautiful. I did this trip on my own and always felt very safe. If your are hesitant - just go ahead and book and you will not regret it!

I booked one week of hiking and one week of yoga and riding in the hotel. Both was excellent! Unforgettable, safe and excellent value for your money.

Noura and Floran are just great, very hospitable, the most interesting company and excellent horse(wo)men.

The best part were the horses - unbelievably tough and also very pretty. Most of them Arab-Berb. All stallions. Very friendly, well trained and in excellent condition. They are also extremely sure-footed (we did some impressive climbing both in the mountains and in the dunes) and generally easy to ride. They hardly spook. Barking dogs, surfboards, parasols, quads - not even the smallest reaction. I wish the horses I ride at home were half as reliable as the 4 year old I had for the first 4 days. I am really picky about animal welfare and was very happy with what I found. Hooves + teeth great and coat shiny. The foot tether they use during the hikes was strange at first, but the horses don’t mind it. At the ranch they have nice boxes with super clean wood shavings. Noura has a really nice riding stile (not like most guides you will see in Morocco). The bits are snaffle bits 👍🏻.

The food was excellent. I’m a vegetarian and it wasn’t a problem at all. All very healthy. My personal highlight was Latifas Beach House. Close second was Nouras Couscous.

My second week would have been suitable for beginners. For the first week (hike) you really should have had a little bit of riding experience. But you don’t have to be a great rider, either.

If you’re hesitant, just book. You won’t regret it.

I took part in the 7 day trip and also 2 extra sunset rides on the beach. The ranch itself is beautiful inside, and Noura, Florent and the team take excellent care of the horses. We were a group of good riders so we had lots of opportunity to gallop along the coast and through the spectacular big dunes by the coast. For me the food was also a highlight, home cooked moroccan dishes and seafood in the local fishing villages! It's not a luxury trip but all of our accommodation was comfortable and clean, with friendly hosts. I had an amazing time and wouldn't hesitate for a second to book another trip here! Go for it and enjoy :) Thank you guys!

A truly wonderful experience! Noura and Floran are excellent hosts and adapt the program depending on your riding level, what you want to do, and weather conditions. I brought some rain with me from Paris, but Noura and Floran were quick to make necessary changes and I was still able to take advantage of all the activities on the program, just in a different order than we first planned.

Context: I’m an experienced but out-of-practice equestrian. I had horses for many years, but now only ride a few times a year. I’ve practiced yoga for years, but in recent months have not taken the time to practice regularly. I did the 8-day discovery program, which included daily riding, morning yoga classes, a spa day at the local hamam, an afternoon at the souk (market), and more.

The ranch:

A beautiful, rustic building that Noura and Floran built themselves (she’s an absolute rockstar-manages a hammer with as much determination and skill as any man I’ve ever met). There is a large table where we chat, drink tea, and eat Noura’s delicious food, surrounded by the horses who happily chomp away at their meals. The primary stable hand, Omar, is just lovely (think of tipping him at the end of your stay-he works really hard). His love for the horses shows when he makes their « couscous » each morning and evening with a big smile on his face.

The hotel:

I was put up in a hotel just a five-minute walk from the ranch. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival! I do a lot of yoga retreats, and often the accommodations are less than perfect. I was greeted with a warm smile, some mint tea, and a plate of Moroccan biscuits while I settled in. Gorgeous swimming pool/garden area, but I was so busy with the planned activities that I barely had time to take advantage of it! A simple but nice breakfast was served each morning after my yoga class (eggs, bread, fresh orange juice, tea, coffee…). There were some issues with hot water on a couple of occasions, but they offered that I take a shower in another room. Apparently it’s a really common problem in Morocco.

The yoga:

I was lucky to be the only one participating in yoga classes, so had individual classes with Olga. She is fabulous! I have been practicing yoga for years and she showed me some new stretches that are particularly good after a long day of riding. She asked each morning what I wanted to work on (and where I was sore!) and adapted to my needs and level. She inspired me to start practicing again regularly. Thank you, Olga!

The horses:

GORGEOUS Arab barb stallions. I was surprised when I arrived and they told me that they only had stallions, but they explained that because there are no mares around, the boys don’t fight much. That said, KEEP YOUR DISTANCE from one another when riding. They’re competitive, even if they’re super well-trained and safe for all levels of riders if you follow the rules.

I rode three gorgeous horses throughout my stay, each one with his own personality. I really appreciated that Noura and Floran gave me horses that were adapted to my level. I wasn’t stuck on an old hag that didn’t gallop, nor was I put on a young and feisty horse that I wasn’t comfortable on. My three boys (Terrence Hill, Macumba and Hacienda) were kind, listened well to commands, and gave me a little challenge without stressing me out (again, I don’t ride often anymore).

I am always apprehensive about rental horses. So often they are mistreated, underfed, not well-trained, or kept in conditions that are not up to standard. This was not at all the case! Their coats glistened, they were super sweet both on the ground and in the saddle, they listened to commands, and were beautiful to look at with their sleek, well-worked muscles. Some of them are used for the longer rides, some of them are used mostly for the shorter beach rides. Again, this shows that Noura and Floran adapt to various situations depending on the horse, the rider, and the environment. Compared to the other horses that I saw on the beach and in the area, these boys are far and away the best treated around.

Noura:
The woman that rules the ranch. She is an absolute powerhouse! She is clearly in love with her horses, and takes great pride in their dressage and upkeep. One of the reasons I chose this ranch is because Noura is the first female tour guide in the area. In my experience, women tend to look after their working animals better, and I certainly found this to be the case. Noura never stops moving for a second. Between running the ranch, directing her staff, cooking amazing meals, doing repairs on the facilities, training her horses, and guiding the long rides, I don’t know when she sleeps! Not only did I have an excellent hostess, I also made a friend in the process. Merci mille fois, Noura !

Floran:

Noura’s partner and the ranch co-founder. Formerly an avid horseman himself, due to a health issue he can no longer ride, but continues his involvement with the running of the ranch, welcoming guests with a tea (and a TON of great stories and jokes), and taking care of all of the administrative work. We spent hours together laughing and telling jokes around the dinner table.

The food:

The food at the ranch is exceptional. Noura is truly a wonderful cook, and that’s coming from someone who was a professional chef for years! She concocts delicious traditional Moroccan meals, but we warned, she will overfeed you! There’s no telling her no if she thinks you haven’t eaten enough. Absolutely wonderful dishes.
Unfortunately, if you’re not eating at the ranch, be prepared to be disappointed. I tried several restaurants in the area and was very disappointed. Stick to the simple things (grilled fish, tagines) for better luck, but don’t expect to be impressed with the restaurants. That’s the problem when Noura feeds you so well: you’re sad when you get a meal elsewhere!

The rides:

First day into the mountains for a 5-6 hour ride. What a way to start off. We rode for about three hours, took a leisurely lunch break at a co-op that Noura has a partnership with, then rode back down the mountain, taking in the beautiful views of the region.

Second long day in the desert for a 4-5 hour ride, plus a lovely lunch break chez Latecia in a little hidden fishing village. Absolutely breathtaking, my favorite ride as far as the scenery goes.

Several beach rides at sunset with Omar. There’s nothing more liberating than galloping in the waves perched upon the back of a majestic beast.

Other activities:

Day trip to Tarahzout, a nearby fishing village. It was stormy and with Mehdi, one of the staff, we sat overlooking the ocean as the waves crashed against the rocks.

Spa day at the hammam. Was nice, but I’ve had better hammam experiences. Nothing wrong at all, the massage and treatments were nice, but nothing exceptional.

Day trip to the souk in Agadir. A HUGE market where you can find anything from knock-off Nike’s to traditional spices. A great place to wander around and get lost in all the stalls and do a little shopping if that’s your thing.

Due to rain, I didn’t go on a camel ride (I opted to ride horses instead when the weather improved), but it’s included in the program for those that want to do so.

I really appreciated that Mehdi or Omar chaperoned me home each night after dark. Although the ranch is very close to the hotel where I stayed, always better safe than sorry.

Airport pick-up and drop-off was perfect and stress-free.

Tips:

Don’t forget to bring a rain jacket! While showers are rare in Agadir, I was very glad to have one with me. Also, I recommend bringing riding gloves or lightweight leather gloves if you’re planning on doing the longer treks.

Be flexible. Plans change, but Floran was quick to adapt and « make-up » for activities that we missed due to the weather.

Tip the staff. Just because it’s less expensive in Morocco than it is in Europe/America, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have value. People bend over backwards to help make your stay a pleasant one, so show your appreciation with a few bucks if you can.

If you don’t speak French or Arab, communication can be a little difficult at times. Google translate is your friend ;) Floran and Noura both speak a bit of English, but it’s limited to communication about safety, activities, and other vacation-related stuff.

Floran and Noura are planning on opening another ranch in the south, and I’m eagerly awaiting the dates so that I can plan another stay with them in a different part of Morocco.

Thank you so much Noura, Floran, Omar, Medhi and Olga for all of your kindness and the warm welcome. A très bientôt !

What a wonderful adventure, , Noura is the most amazing woman I have ever met, she is so increíble with her horses, a wonderful cook, and always laughing and happy even when unexpected events happens. We were lucky to have a great group of girls, and were always supportive when we had ups and downs. I found It tough, but although being a Rider all my Life my age 67 did Kick in a bit, you need to be really fit for this trip and learn to be minimalistic taking just bare essentials in 2 saddle bags.I am so happy I did it, a wonderful memory, and has taught me how we can survive with less, and any problems, deal with It,. Love my horse Macumba, sooo special, but all of them were wonderful, and so well loved and looked after. Next time I will do the yoga/riding, and any riding holiday with Noura and Floran would highly recommend as a fantastic experience, a holiday of a lifetime 🥰🥰
