This was a stop on our 10-day bus tour of Morocco, and it was a highlight. A UNESCO world heritage site, this is one of the largest kasbahs in Morocco, a virtual rabbit warren of red clay residences and colurful shops (you will not be harassed). The crenellated towers are a sight to behold, and the view from the top of the hill of the town and the Atlas mountains is breathtaking. Many films, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator, have been shot here for good reason. We lingered in the actual arena where Maximus fights his first gladiatorial duel for Proximus. Wonderful experience.

the trip was really nice, even though the journey was long the Alas Mountains' landscapes are amazing.
Ait Benhaddou Kasbah is the highlight of the trip, our guide was super friendly and shared with us his knowledge of the Berbers culture and history.

The landscapes are breathtaking, starting from the High Atlas Mountains with stops in panoramic views and Berber villages all along the way , and then watching the landscape changes to drier and more desertic.
Arriving to kasbah ait benhaddou we had a walking tour and learned about the history of the location and the Berber culture.
Long drive but every minute is very interesting.
Thanks to the organiser🙏🏽

it all started very good with Moha our guide picking us up from our accommodation on time.
this agency is taking all the precautionary COVID-19 measures.
we started journey 7 am through the beautiful landscapes of the High atlas mountains, few stops in viewpoints with panoramic views on Berber villages in the mountains.
after 4 hours drive we arrived to the magical ait Ben Haddou with was the highlight of the trip, our lovely guide Moha is very friendly and well informed about the history and the culture, and then we visited the film studio and Taourirte Kasbah in Ouarzazate.
i would say that the journey is a bit long but it's worth it, but if you have more time than what I had you can take an overnight trip to ouarzazate this agency organise that.

We had high hopes for this trip based on the reviews and itinerary but all was not as it seemed. We were picked up half an hour late and then taken into Marrakesh where we changed to a very poorly maintained bus which had no working seat belts and literally held together by tape.
Because there are a 100 Km of Road Works between Marrakesh and Ouzazarte (Dec 2019) the journey that took over 5 hours and the driver was very reluctant to provide toilet breaks although after a revolt he finally agreed. The visit to Ait Ben Haddoud was brilliant (although despite the advert we had to pay local entrance tax) with a very well-informed local guide but this gave way to a 2-hour lunch break because they were so disorganized. We then went on to Ouzazarte where we had no guide (so we had to hire our own at a cost of 100 dh) and were given only 30 minutes to have a look at either the Kasbah or the film Studio. we then had a four hour return journey in the dark which was very unpleasant. This should really be a 2 day tour and if you go for it, Ait Ben Haddoud is definitely worth the trip, but you need to understand that you will be stuck in a coach which is poorly equipped for 10 hours

Booked through my hotel,it was good to get a pick up about 7am.Full day i believe 12hrs so long way to go.Climbing up to the high atlas mountains into the Berber countryside our first stop is to look back on the snake like Tizi n 'Test road winding its way up and over the mountain valleys,great photo oppertunities .Next on to Ait Benhaddou in the desert ,wanted to come here because of the game of thrones connection,this was Yunkai-Pentos in season 3,and from a distance its all you could imagine from an ancient city from long ago,we had a Berber guide who told us that people still lived in the old Kasbah and its been the film set of many Hollywood films,its still well preserved and the mud/straw buildings are still preserved,local arts/craft shops can be found amongst the intricate passage ways that wind there way up to the agadir/granary at the top,great views of the surrounding village,river bed and scenic views of the countryside and stoney desert.Quite a stunning place to visit.Next up is Ouarzazate the hollywood of Africa ,well not that glittering but the huge desert studios are just outside the city,where again many famous hollywood blockbusters have been made/various scenes Star Wars/Gladiator to name a couple the city is well preserved old and new and by some of the appartments here there is money around this part of the country.The old city has bazzars/souks and is still inhabited by many locals,some areas are run down but again getting deep into the back streets you meet and see how the locals live ,its open eye stuff when you see how some live but are happy in there day to day lives, all in all this has been a great day out,and its time to eat at a local restaraunt before we have the long journey back,to Marrakech.

We had such an amazing time on this day trip. The Alternative Morocco helped us with the suggestions and planning a few trips.
Ait Benhaddou is definitely worth seeing. The tour started in the morning, the way through the mountains is like no other way you’ve seen. Winding roads and stunning views. Ait benhaddou was great. Lots of beautiful scenery, local artists and delicious dinner after the tour with a great view.
Can’t wait for our next trips!

We had an amazing time visiting Ait Benhaddou.
The way is long but so beautiful! We stopped in High Atlas a few times to sink in the scenery, absolutely marvellous.
Ait Benhaddou was another gem in the tour, beautiful place which we had a chance to visit with a local guide, so passionate about his heritage and country!
Dealing with the Alternative Morocco team was quick and very efficient. Lots of tips on where to go, stay and make our holiday as hassle free as possible!
Absolutely worth it! Highly recommend!

Afgehaald bij onze Riad om 7u s'morgens maar de minibus vertrok pas om 8u. Voldoende stops en ook stops om foto's te nemen. Onze gids was zeer bekwaam en kon zijn talen uitstekend! Lange rit maar zeker niet slecht, zo zie je onderweg nog meer van de natuur en omgeving van Marokko.
