This review is based on my email communications with Alex from Memento, as I ended up not doing the tour with him for reasons outside of his control.
Alex was extremely professional from the beginning. Over a few months timeframe, he spent a considering amount of time answering all my questions and helping me design the perfect tailored and detailed itinerary. He always wrote back the same day or the day after, speaks perfect English, and his price was super fair.
You shouldn't hesitate to chose him. Memento is reliable - just look at the other reviews. I felt very confident about the company, and I will choose it when I go back to Ethiopia.
Do yourself a break and do the same. You are in safe hands :)

Visited Gondar and Simien mountains with the company. The trip was perfectly organised, even at a very short notice. The guide was great, knowledgable, and presented all the sightseeings in detail.

Memento è un tour operator meraviglioso, Alex ha organizzato il nostro tour in modo impeccabile, con un autista fantastico (anche lui si chiama Alex), un itinerario non facile , compreso il deserto, alcune chiese rupestri difficili da raggiungere, il tutto senza un intoppo (cosa normale in Africa e non solo), non vediamo l'ora di tornare, sempre con Memento

Memento è la migliore agenzia viaggi con cui abbia viaggiato fino ad oggi.
Eccelle per elevata professionalità, effettiva ed efficace attenzione alle nostre specifiche esigenze sia in fase di pianificazione del viaggio che durante il suo svolgimento, simpatia e profonda conoscenza del territorio. Il nostro viaggio si è sviluppato al nord tra trecking, parte storica e Dancalia (da non perdere!) ma Memento copre tutta l'Etiopia.
Outstanding Travel Agency. The best I ever came across worldwilde. Memento combines high professional and friendly attitude of the whole staff with a true attention to your specific needs, either during the planning phase or while travelling.
Sound knowledge of the Country.

We highly recommend Memento tour when organising a tour in Ethiopia : from the first contact via whatsup Alex has been an excellent and professional tour organiser. He understood our needs in setting up a very well balanced tour in the region, both historical and naturalistic. More, he agreed and suggested a day off without any problem. We have been amazed how he has guessed our wishes about hiking and even climbing accordingly to our skills. Everything went so well we are still amazed, he says we were lucky, we say it is thanks to him, his careful attention to every detail in our day-by-day schedule, his professional approach, and thanks to all his colleagues and collaborators. We want to mention our driver, Charlie, who has been such an important actor along the two weeks tour. He has very often been the "bridge" to many contacts with people and Ethiopian reality. We had such a good time sharing injera and his favorite beer with him! Memento tours and Alex deserve to be known and appreciated for their work and we highly suggest to fully rely on him when you plan a trip in Ethiopia. Giorgia

Very good organization and pre-trip support/explanations from Alex. Special compliments to the driver-guide Charlie who was with us from Mikele to Lalibela and who was always there for us. Alex got us very good local guides in the cities/places we visited on the way. Most memorable highlights of the trip: Gheralta mountains, Gondar, Lalibela cathedrals, Lake Tana and monasteries, Assale salt lake and baboons in Simien park.

Alex hebben we door privé omstandigheden minder gezien dan gepland, maar dit weerhield hem er niet van om super betrokken te zijn. Voor het regelen van mijn huwelijksaanzoek heeft hij 3 maanden van te voren al intensief contact met mij gehad. Echt een bijzonder fijne gids en bijzonder fijn persoon.

My cousin and I had a wonderful time in Ethiopia with our amazing tour guide Alex M. I have had many tour guides but he is definitely on the top. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable and caring. He was always on time and confirmed all aspects of our arrangements. He was flexible and went over and above the call of duty. I would highly recommend Alex for a safe, interesting and enjoyable trip!
