The trip to the Bazaruto islands was amazing. What a stunning place to visit.
Mostly the trip was great. Nice staff, kept to itinerary, lovely lunch and such a beautiful place to visit.
- Told to be ready for 8am but not picked up until 8.30am.
- there was no ladder on the boat which meant the many climbs in and out were not the easiest, although the staff did assist. After snorkeling being hauled out by 2 guys was not the best experience.
- we were told by our accommodation this was definitely the nicest boat and nicest food. On arrival at the island another boat from Mapapay looked to me a lot more comfortable and professional with staff in company logo uniform, a boat with less spray potential etc
Enjoyed the day but feel I wasn't recommended the best by my accommodation at Lemon Beach Lodge.
I appreciate that I didn't travel with the other company so can't make an honest comparison. However if I went again I would choose the other company.

after reading your review i think that you had trip not with us but different company; all our boats are equipped with ladder, our team is wearing proper uniform with logo.

Nice full-day tour (8am-3:30pm) to Bazaruto and Benguerra Islands, everything was perfectly organized and the lunch the staff prepared on Bazaruto island deserves a special mention! I highly recommend this experience.

If you are coming to Vilanculos you 100 percent should get a boat trip to Bazaruto and snorkel the (two mile reef or paradise island) and visit the beach at Benguessa.
The trip with sunset would have been good (good food, nice enough guys working on the boat and really good getting us to the reef despite some challenging conditions).
However they insist on payment up front (80 dollars per person so not cheap) when we arrived which is fine but failed to tell us that on our small boat they would cram as many people as possible on it. I would say it would fit 8 people ok with 3 guys working on the boat too (it’s very small) but they packed 13 of us in like sardines.
Also this was made it very cramped when we were all trying to huddle under their small beach tent to take refuge from the sun. They had no chairs (which other tours seemed to have) so was quite an uncomfortable experience on the beach!
Food and guys on boat were great but tarnished by greedy boat ownership cramming people on which is a shame.
My recommendation would be to ask how many people on the boat before it stops off at multiple hotels on the way to the islands!

What a great day we had on the beautiful island of Bazaruto! We were picked from our hotel beach in the morning and took a speed boat trip to Bazaruto Island, where we spent the greater part of the day. What a beauty! It was a wonderful experience and my family loved every bit of it. Sunset Dhow Safaris handled everything about the trip and I was happy that all was on point. On a hot day, I liked that their speed boats, named 'Keep Talking 1' and 'Keep Talking II' have a shade to cover passengers from the scorching heat of the sun. The lunch comprising of rice, fish, calamari, some salad and fruits was great and they had enough stock of refreshments to last the whole day. At Bazaruto, we spent most of our time playing on the beautiful white sand dunes and cooling off in the ocean water. On the way back, we passed through another gem, the Benguerra Island. I just wished we had spent more time on Benguerra Island as it is top notch with its crystal clear waters. Everyone in my family can't forget the wonderful experience, which is our major highlight for the year 2022, thanks to Sunset Dhow Safaris. I highly recommend this touring company.

We did the Bazaruto and Benguera trip with Sunset Dow Safari. There was a mix up and we got onto the wrong boat which was a horrible experience. We recommend confirming with Jeff the name of the boat and the name of your skipper to avoid this.
Jeff, Mario and Eduardo handled the situation with absolute professionalism. We were taken to snorkel as we missed out on this and Mario had put food aside for us. Eduardo also checked in to make sure we were okay. What an incredible company!! We will be definitely using them next time and recommending them to everyone we know. Thank you for your professionalism team! Our second half of the day was incredible.

We had a great time with Nelson, Edmundo and team during our day trip to part of the Bazaruto archipelago. The joys of a coastal life, we were picked up by Nelson and his team via the boat right in front of our hotel and headed straight to Bazaruto, where we dropped off a couple of the crew who were in charge of preparing lunch.
We headed off to snorkel and had a great experience in a stretch called Two-Mile reef. We were able to rest on the boat when we wanted. The couple we were on the trip with saw a sea turtle and a small shark. We saw lots of parrot fish and coral. The sea was incredibly warm if a tad choppy in parts. We headed back to Bazaruto to explore the dunes, more exercise to help us with the feast that awaited us.
Lunch (on each visit) was freshly made and included freshly caught crab, barracuda, and prawns. It was all delicious and balanced with a lovely selection of fruit.
After a break, we headed for another location of the archipelago, to swim and walk.
On our second trip, we opted for a private trip, which we loved being able to dictate the course of the day. We also opted for a dhow trip instead and on our return journey, was thoroughly serene to bob along the Indian Ocean with nothing else in sight. On this trip, we headed to Magaruque and the snorkelling there was just off the beach - much colder than we were used to (please be aware of the relative nature given that the Indian Ocean is so warm!). Again the lunch was epic. We were then able to chill out and read on the beach.
It was all brilliantly organised by our hotel (AsDunas) and we even paid for our trip at the airport on our way out of Vilanculos.

We had such a lovely trip to the islands. The staff were friendly, courteous, professional and entertaining. The islands are beautiful and a great opportunity to sit and gaze at the surrounding beauty. Aside from the 2 crew & 4 other guests, we saw no-one else on the island so felt really exclusive. Due to Covid regulations we were not permitted to snorkel but we did wallow in the sea. I would highly recommend this trip & Sunset Dhow Safaris.

The trip overall was very good.
We went to Bazaruto island and checked the dunes and the beaches. Great views and great weather (and it was in August 2020, which is end of winter in Mozambique).
Went to 2 mile reef for snorkling and was good, the crew had a lot of equipament for that and all we needed was there.
The trip included lunch in Bazaruto and it was all great. A lot of food and beverages.
In the end we checked Benguerra Island which is beautiful.
It was a great day.

A couple of weeks ago we had a great day tour to Bazaruto island. With the help of our tour guide Edmundo we had a wonderful time at the boat, the islands and the open sea. Two weeks later rented a private boat for a half a day and went to Magaruque island for snorkeling. Thanks to the good crew we had a very special and beautiful day, thanks!
