We hired a 4x4 with 2x roof top tents to explore Namibia and Botswana for about 2weeks through Namvic. First off let me say that this is an excellent way to see these countries and I highly recommend a 4x4 with rooftop tents to any one planning on visiting. I would not however recommend Namvic for their vehicle rental.
We utilised the airport pickup which Namvic kindly provides, this was excellent and took us to their office just outside of Windhoek. This is where the trouble started, as the kind gentleman helping us complete the final paperwork for the rental (we had pre-booked and paid a deposit months ahead of schedule) had very little information about our rental. First of all there was great confusion as he was under the impression that we only had the basic insurance and would be liable for any and all damage to the vehicle despite us opting for the all inclusive insurance. It took a good 10-15minutes before he realised this error during which we went through all the paperwork saying we were liable if this that and the other happened. It was quite worrying there for a minute when we were told that if we hit an animal accidently, even while driving following all legal requirements, that we would be liable for all damages etc etc. I'm not sure if he was familiar with the total cover insurance (is it a new offering from Namvic?) but this was quite a rocky start as we thought we had paid extra to have totally rubbish insurance cover.
The second more major issue was he was not aware that the we were taking the vehicle into Botswana so the paperwork required to cross the border was not completed (despite us booking for the vehicle to be picked up in Kasane 2 weeks later...), we were told at this point that we had to have this document in hard copy to cross the border, and it would be emailed to us that afternoon or the next morning at the latest. While not ideal this would have worked as we were staying in Windhoek that night and could have it printed at our hotel, but camping from then on and would have very little option to print out a copy after this - sadly the documents did not arrival until 2 days later. When it did arrive I replied to the email and was assured that a soft copy on my phone would be fine at the border crossing. This was totally incorrect, and resulted in us being turned away from the border and wasting an entire morning trying to get a hard copy printed. I can't say I was hugely impressed at this point.
On the border crossing note, in their 'bible' of information it says that to cross into Botswana it is very much preferred that this is paid in cash in Rand if possible, so we went to some effort to secure this to try and smooth out the border crossing - it turns out that Botswana border crossing have not taken cash payments since 2019 and everything is paid for by card. Have they really not updated their information in 3 years?
The other issue that I found to be very unprofessional is that when we booked we paid for the 'safari package' which included GPS, camping equipment etc etc, but also covered a camping starter pack with wood, cooking oil, matches, salt and pepper etc etc. This was missing from our vehicle and the kind gentleman who helped us pick up the car said it was too late for them to arrange this but it would be refunded. I sent three separate emails to Namvic regarding this, and each one was totally ignored. They did respond to other queries in those emails though so I do know that they were read. I found this to be very unprofessional, I wasn't particularly worried about it missing as we were staying in Windhoek the first night of our trip and were able to stock up on the missing items but to ignore these emails completely seems very childish.
Finally, communication was quite difficult with Namvic. Replies usually arrived within 24hrs but they were very short responses and often didn't cover all the points queried, requiring further communication. It took 3 emails to get a correct receipt for the trip, each response from Namvic contained zero text and just the attachment which really gives the impression that they felt they had better things to do.
The vehicle we rented was excellent, a 2022 Nissan Navara with only 11,000Ks, and I cannot fault it - though I wish it had 4x4 tires instead of the road tires on it and I really missed having central locking. Features found on most other 4x4 rentals we saw during our trip, but it did handle the sand out to Sossusvlei just fine. The only minor issue with the car was the locks for the compartment on the back, 5 locks were on one key and 1 was on a separate key. So there were two identical keys which both had to be tried every time we opened or closed the back - a minor thing but it would have been really useful if they seen this wasn't ideal and put on matching locks.
While the vehicle was great I really would recommend looking elsewhere for a vehicle rental option for the above reasons, there are so many options available and they must be better than my Namvic experience.

Hello Tim
thank you for your review, its always good to know where our mistakes lies and we do accept full responsibility for when we make them.
cornering the cross border letter, my team knew about it, but our new lady in the office honestly forgot to print and include this into your file, so sorry about that.
the all risk cover we offer covers the vehicles fully but there are still terms that dop apply, all risk does not mean there client can cause any kind of damages to the vehicle and ill not be responsible and all these conditions are perfectly well explained in our terms and conditions, it seems it was more of and misunderstanding between yourself and our handover agent.
All risk does not cover for instance speeding, drunk driving, deliberate damages etc, also Botswana parks like chobe, moremi, kalahari etc are always own risk irrespective of type of insurance taken out, also explained in our terms.
crossing borders are always a bit of a surprise you never know when other countries rules changes, but i know for a fact you can pay cash or by CC at Botswana borders, i travel there quite often myself.
my sincere apologies for the inconveniences your experienced, we will definitely polish up on the points you mentioned, im glad you were satisfied with the vehicle and as for the canopy locks, they do get damaged quite often and needs to be replaced and its always a nightmare to find ones with the same keyes.
take care
