Il viaggio è stato molto interessante perché le città imperiali sono davvero bellissime. Ma la vera ciliegina sulla torta è stata la visita dei villaggi berberi sul medio Atlante, con escursioni alle miniere di sale, al mercato di Khenifra e all'asta dei tappeti!
Sono convinta che siano proprio questi ultimi giorni a dare un valore in più al viaggio, rendendolo particolarmente “diverso“ dai classici tour offerti sul mercato.

My experience of the TransAfrica Benin-Togo-Ghana adventure was the following:
I found the cultural experiences in Benin 🇧🇯 and Togo 🇹🇬 to be amazing, especially the further north we went in both countries. These are destinations that you visit if you are looking to experience very different cultures. This is not the adventure you take if you’re looking for nice accommodations or quality food. You can’t have it both ways: Visit very rural peoples and expect posh hotels and gourmet food!
Gabrielle in the TransAfrica front office was absolutely AMAZING with assisting with VISA and related issues. I am so grateful for all of his assistance. The guide throughout the tour was “rough around the edges” and could use some training in interpersonal communication with the tour group.
If you are curious about meeting people very different from yourself or your culture, I do recommend visiting Benin 🇧🇯 and Togo 🇹🇬!

Awesome road trip. Only able to join for a couple of weeks but we covered so many varied experiences along the way. Masks and the village visits were central, but also beaches, diamond mining, history in cities, museums, liana bridge, etc. and the always ‘interesting’ border crossings, skilfully navigated by our TransAfrica guide and his assistant. Hotels were of a (surprisingly) high standard, swimming pools in some cases and only one or two wifi outages. Transport was necessarily by 4x4s to get to villages and a standard three riding with each driver, with the occasional local guide/fixer in too. My second trip with TransAfrica (Ghana, Togo & Benin the other) and will definitely look to take in another part of West Africa with them in the future.

It was an awesome experience. I travelled through Togo, Benin and Ghana meeting different tribes and attending religious ceremonies and the Ashanti festival. The guide, Armstrong, is professional, he has extensive knowledge of the area and great communication skills. The program was interesting but he added several extra “surprises” that made the travel unforgettable. The hotels were well chosen and the guide tried to solve all the problems that could arise. The driver Ya Ya was good too. I would definitely travel with them again.
