I did the 5 days, 4 nights chimpanzee and gorilla trekking tour with Prime Safaris, and every part of the trip was incredible. Here's my detailed breakdown.
Booking & Communication:
Kate and her husband are the co-owners of Prime Safaris, and it was so easy to set up this tour with them (over Whatsapp). They are extremely responsive and provided so much helpful information on what tour would best suit me in terms of budget and time that I had. They even welcomed me IN PERSON at my hotel the night before the tour started. I mean, who does that?? I've never received such an exceptional welcome.
Tour Guide:
Andrew was my AMAZING tour guide. He is from close to Entebbe/Kampala and has guided tours all over the country, so he really. knows his stuff. He was knowledgeable (not just about animals and the planned activities, but also things like how a certain village/town specialized in growing onions or pineapples), funny, a very good driver, and has excellent taste in music. Andrew has a great energy and spirit that was much needed during our long driving days! I would HIGHLY recommend asking for him as your guide. He even went out of his way to help me find a local restaurant serving local food when we returned on the last day of the tour. By the end of the trip, I really felt like Andrew and I had become friends (vs. a tour guide-tourist transactional relationship).
Miscellaneous:
I just can't say enough great things about Prime Safari - from Kate and her husband to my guide Andrew - every aspect of the trip was fantastic. You can really tell they put a lot of thought into the itinerary as well. I very much appreciated that we spent 2 nights at the same hotel the first 2 days of the trip. This help me rest well instead of feeling like I had to constantly get to the next destination. Kate and Andrew even helped me extend my stay by one night on what was supposed to be the last night of the trip at a place called Lake Bunyonyi. I enjoyed that area so much so I asked them last minute if we could arrange another night, and they flawlessly and quickly took care of it.
Thank you Prime Safari, Kate, and Andrew. I had such a wonderful time exploring Uganda with you, and will 100% be back in the future.

This was the most extraordinary adventure. Gofrey was our private guide and he picked us up in Rwanda and drove us to Uganda and back. He was very knowledgeable about the entire region. All our accommodations were wonderful. Godfrey was willing to make suggestions or let us take the lead. He was very flexible and accommodating no matter what was happening. Kate, the owner, stayed in touch, not that there was ever a problem, but she was always available if she was needed. This trip was everything and more that I had anticipated and we have a forever new friend in Godfrey. I can’t wait to get back for more.

I have to admit that I was not prepared for what I have experienced in that 5 days. My Guide James Odongo made me feel comfortable and save at all times while showing me the most amazing wildlife and landscapes of Uganda and feeding me with so many interesting facts that I feel sorry I will only be able to remember few of them. The Lodges choosen by prime were great, especially at the Queen Elisabeth National Park and at the Lake Bunyonyi. I am sorry that I could not spend more time.

We were very pleased with the tour. It covered a lot of different areas of Uganda: national parks, lakes, jungles. We got to see a lot of the country and we saw a wide variety of animals. We got to meet many wonderful local people. The highlight was going to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and walking deep into the jungle to see the mountain gorillas. We were very close to them and we were able to watch them grooming, playing, eating, and going about their daily lives. We also enjoyed the dancing and singing performed by the local villagers near Bwindi. The guides were all excellent. The accommodations were really nice. As a vegetarian, I had no trouble getting food that I liked. Our driver, Jerome, was wonderful. We really enjoyed talking to him and learning about Uganda from him. He was a lot of fun and had a nice sense of humor. He was a safe driver and we even enjoyed listening to his collection of old country Western music (which we did not expect!) I would definitely recommend this tour company. They delivered even more than they promised.

We had one of the best safari experiences in Africa via Prime Safaris Uganda. Right from the preliminary planning , emails and WhatsApp messaging, Cate was very professional. Our tour guide and Driver, Annanis, was very experienced and knowledgable and went out of his way in making our trip unique.

Our adventure started months prior talking with Cate who answered all our questions and kept us informed every step of the way. Our guide Ananias was the key to our successful enjoyment of the trip. He was very considerate and accommodated our requests and last minute preferences. He was crucial in talking to other local guides, hotels and excursion staff and ensuring we had an optimal experience. We had many amazing and memorable moments that might not have been possible without him. We highly recommend Uganda in general and Ananias in particular. J&L

The company, tour and more importantly our guide Ananias were exceptional. What a wonderful introduction to Uganda. The wildlife, the accommodations and food were all outstanding!!!! Ananias was patient, kind, supportive and easy to get along with. Uganda is called the “Pearl of Africa” but really it was Ananias who is the “Pearl of Africa” in my eyes. I will be recommending this tour and company to all of my friends who wish to come to Africa. Thank-you a million times over:)

Gift of a lifetime. I can’t say enough good things about Prime Safaris. This was my first trip to Africa and Cate made it perfect. I spent a couple of months writing to different operations and made my decision based on the reasonable price and personal communication. Me and Cate exchanged probably over 40 emails as I wanted to go over every detail. She was so helpful and patient. Our 6 days in Uganda were perfect. Our guide, Emanuel, was absolutely phenomenal. Best ever. He thought through every detail about our comfort. Went out of his way to make our trip memorable and pleasant. Every single aspect of our trip was a perfect check mark. So easy and perfectly planned. Uganda was amazing. We also booked Maasai Mara through Prime safari. Same experience. Very smooth operation. I focused on Uganda because it involves moving around and long drives in all kinds of weather. It was nothing short of perfect. Have no second thoughts, book with them! I was a first timer and so was my friend and we were super impressed. Ask for Emma as your guide! Thank you Cate!

Truly a trip of a lifetime! We went on a 5 day safari with guide, Emma, who was incredibly knowledgable, kind, and helpful to us during our trip. He went out of his way to ensure we got amazing photos of the animals and found us delicious local foods to try along our drives. During our safari we saw 8 tree climbing lions (yes 8!), leopard, gorillas (in Bwindi's impenetrable forest), elephants, hippos, crocs, water buffalo, antelope, and countless beautiful bird species. Each day was truly better than the next! The hotel accommodations and food provided were all more we could have dreamed of. It was so nice to have Prime safaris take care of all of this so we could just sit back and enjoy! If you have any hesitation about this trip, just book it! I hope to be able to come back again sometime so I can relive the magic and beauty of Uganda and it's stunning animals and incredibly gracious people! Thanks again Emma & the rest of the Prime crew :)
