Wan is a master carver..when in class in person she knows your next move in carving a piece and is right there to assist. A wonderful.learming experience. Plus they offer classes on video so you can continue learning and getting guided instruced practice.

This class will set up apart from other chefs. All the tools and information you need to make exquisite decorations from vegetables (tomato, cucumber, radishes, pumpkin, etc) and fruit you will learn. The teacher is so patient and creative. She never stopped creating new designs and never got tired of me constantly needing a lot of instruction.
Even if you are a home cook this is a great fun way to spend the afternoon and learn a skill. If you are a professional chef this knowledge will set you apart from other chefs. A knife and lunch is included.

I did the full day fruit carving class. We mainly focused on forming flower-, petal- and leaf shapes from tomatoes, carrots, radishes, cucumbers, and pumpkins. I think this would be a great course for food professionals like caterers and chefs, and anyone looking to up his or her presentational skills. Be warned: fruit and vegetable carving is a LOT harder than it looks, and you'll be grateful for Khun Wan's guidance.

First I would like to thank again to Wan for her patience to teach me. 3 days' basic course was so intense. I learned so much about Thai traditional carving and it is just a beginning. I felt the depth of this culture. Wan is an amazing teacher and artist. I am very pleased to have met Wan and have seen Wan's knife techniques. Elegant and very high artistic skill.

Wan is a very patient teacher and over the full day course we achieved a lot more than I had expected to do with no experience - watching her work is amazing but she can also give you the skills in one day to make beautiful pieces for decorating home dishes or preparing meals for others in a home situation even if you are a home cook .
Wan and her husband Larry invited me into their rooftop home and provided a delicious lunch for the break. This was one of the most hands on food activities I have done.

On one day notice and for personal enrichment - I took the full day class with Siam master carver Wan and had a wonderful experience! Wan is kind, professional and and excellent teacher. I learned a great deal and left inspired to practice and continue to improve. Larry, the Director of the Academy, was an excellent resource for details about Bangkok, directions, lodging, and so very encouraging about taking the class. The lunch provided was delicious and large! The classroom is very comfortable and provides a fantastic view of the city as well. I was able to reserve a space in their rentable studio room for 2 nights which provided the utmost convenience for me. My favorite memory of my travels to Bangkok is Siam Carving Academy and learning a new skill! Joan S., USA

I was excited to learn a new skill while in Thailand. But the best part was getting to spend a whole day with Wan. I was fortunate to be her only student that day and it was a treat to learn vegetable carving one on one from a master. It looks easier than it is! Wan is very patient and a great teacher. As much as I liked the carving, I felt like I made a new friend. Thanks Wan for the amazing lunch (made by Wan herself) and Larry for the fresh roasted coffee all in their penthouse home! Can't go wrong with this class.

i went in first just for a full day course but after the day was over i took up the three day course , very detailed and wan is so friendly , i really enjoyed myself and now i have some new skills to perfect on , thanks again wan

i am a pastry chef back in my home country and a certified foodie. i have attended thai cooking classes and french pastry classes in bangkok through the years but on this recent may 2018 trip to bangkok, i decided to try my hand on a fruit and vegetable carving class. i had an amazing full day class with the talented chef wan wertz which i enjoyed immensely and which proved to be a highlight of my bangkok trip.
under her patient tutelage, i learned the basics of carving. i am eager to take more advanced carving classes in the next few months. thank you too for your warm welcome and hospitality, mr. larry wertz
